Orsted Diversifies with Major UK Solar Project Investment

Thursday, 14 September 2023

Orsted, the Danish energy giant, has ventured into the UK solar energy sector with its inaugural investment in the One Earth Solar Farm. This 740 MW project, co-developed alongside UK's PS Renewables, will also feature battery storage and is located in the East Midlands.

Upon completion, the solar farm is projected to generate sufficient electricity to cater to approximately 200,000 households, positioning it as one of the UK's most expansive solar facilities.

While the exact investment figure remains undisclosed by Orsted, both companies anticipate the solar farm to be fully operational before the close of this decade.

Notably, while Orsted stands as the global leader in offshore wind farm development, it also oversees 420 MW of onshore wind farm capacity across the UK and Ireland.
