OTB Behaviour: A conversation on excellence with Pierfrancesco Leo

OTB Behaviour: A conversation on excellence with Pierfrancesco Leo

In our latest interview, Pierfrancesco Leo, MEA Sales Manager at Diesel, dives into the concept of excellence. He shares what excellence means to him and how it drives his work at OTB Group, offering inspiring insights into his professional journey and the values that fuel his passion.

What does excellence mean?

Starting with the etymology, 'Ex-cellere' means 'To push out', thus to overcome and go beyond the ordinary. It means being demanding first and foremost of yourself, exceeding others' expectations, reaching your own, and once achieved, not being satisfied, trying to push yourself even further.

What does excellence mean in OTB?

At OTB, excellence is expressed by people who know how to dare by carrying forward the brand values and the quality of our products. A combination of high Italian quality and powerful brand values is conveyed by our garments to customers to make them feel confident, comfortable and simply different from the rest.

How do you carry the concept of excellence forward in your work?

My work is based on relationships between people and companies. Excellence for me lies in managing not a simple economic relationship with our partners, but that we are able to  transfer strategies, visions and brand values even miles away, so that the brand is represented with one unified image globally.

Is there anyone you consider an example of excellence?

Arturo Toscanini, the great Italian conductor of the 19th century, is a symbol of Italian excellence in the world. He was among the first to export Italian culture worldwide,  becoming a symbol of his home country through early radio and television broadcasts.
Despite his fame (he received a letter of praise from Albert Einstein), he always remained a man of integrity and truly down to earth.

What, in your personal experience, has helped you to get this far?

A motto I learned while studying abroad: fake it till you make it. It doesn't mean faking your abilities but engaging optimistically and striving to  be comfortable and maintain a positive  attitude even in the most complex situations until it comes naturally and you have acquired all the necessary skills to achieve the result you are looking for.
