Our First Year with an HQ.

Our year started with our UK team firmly marking their spot on the map with the opening of our UK offices in Covent Garden. Since then, our offices have seen strategy days, rubber glove heists, office dogs and a whole lot of pirkx family members, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have such a vibrant and thriving community space.

A Year Filled with Wins.

However, not long after setting up base in London we set off to Glasgow where our CEO and Founder, Stella Smith, was announced the AccelerateHER Technology Award 2023 winner after pitching our platform to a panel of judges. Elizabeth Pirrie CodeBase

With one win not being quite enough for our Founder, this was then quickly followed with the announcement that she had made it onto the Innovate Finance Fintech Power List; a list celebrating some of the amazing women making an impact across the FinTech and Financial Services space.

We were fortunate enough this year to be able to offer several different associate and work experience programs throughout the year and, as a result, meet lots of different talented individuals from all across the world.

From UCL to Georgia College & State University , we had some exceptional talent join us this year and we are extremely grateful for the contributions of every single one.

With A Lot of New Members.

With a new product comes new members, and this year the pirkx community has grown hugely. New company members include, Alton Cars Ltd Chartered Association of Business Schools , Hooke Highways Ltd , just to name a few. We are so pleased to see so many new companies making their employee's wellbeing a priority, and ensuring that they have the structure to support and care for all of their employees, without discrimination due to size or contract type. This is not to mention all of the new individual members who have joined us this year and now have access to better wellbeing than ever before.

We appreciate every single member of the pirkx family and look forward to being able to continue to grow and develop our platform to provide even more wellbeing resources in 2024.

Our Very Own Podcast.

2023 also saw the launch of our very own podcast, 'Disrupting Wellbeing', hosted experienced podcast host and all round super cool human, Petra Velzeboer .

Disrupting Wellbeing has seen a whole host of vibrant guest this season including Dr. Asif Sadiq MBE , Subira Jones , Clare Munn , Jon Smith OBE , Kirstin Furber , Emily Warren and more. We cannot wait to see what Season Two will bring!

A New Brand Ambassador: HR Katie x pirkx.

In terms of collaboration, we were also fortunate enough this year to have our first ever pirkx Brand Ambassador come onboard. Katie Elliott (HR Katie) is a an HR superstar, passionate about working with small brands and helping them get the most out of their employees. Producing content with Katie has been a real pleasure and we couldn’t wish for a better Brand Ambassador to be spreading the pirkx message.

A Rubber Glove Heist!

We were joined by London street artist, Nathan Bowen, as he set up his first Gallery and Rubber Glove Heist event at our Covent Garden HQ. The gallery was a resounding success and is still currently available to visit. Nathan has even produced a set of limited edition pirkx x Nathan Bowen prints, which are available to purchase in store.

Lots of Events.

Not only did we host, but we were also hosted this year! We were extremely grateful to have been invited to join in with a number of amazing events this year including the 2023 Women of the Future Programme Summit, Pleo ’s ‘Between Us’ Series, UCL ’s MFIN student project, Amazon Web Services (AWS) ’s #IWD23 debate and many, many more! Too many TV Appearances and Publications to Count!

Not only were we invited to an abundance of events, but we were also invited to feature in an abundance of PR pieces this year. In 2023 our CEO and Founder, Stella Smith, was featured on national TV and radio on several occasions and we experienced great feedback and interaction as a result of each. Moreover, this year we were featured in too many online and physical articles to count! Some of these include The Stack World , Insider.co.uk , HR News , London Business News and many, many more. We are extremely grateful for all of the coverage our fairy-tale story has received so far, and cannot wait to spread the pirkx mission even further.

We joined forces with APSCo and Growth Builders.

We were excited this year to announce that we had been accepted as a Trusted Partner of APSCo Outsource, a leading trade  association for recruitment Process Outsourcing, Managed Service Providers, Statement of Work and Managed Project. The partnership has been extremely rewarding for both parties so far and we look forward to the relationship blossoming in the upcoming year.

We were also fortunate enough to be selected to join PWC and GrowthBuilders as part of their Enterprise Scale-Up Cohort. The 2023 program provided us with personalised training and development, as well as the incredible opportunity to pitch internally to PWC and their vast enterprise network. This opportunity allowed our team to learn a huge amount about a range of different topics and offered a variety of new opportunities. We were very grateful for such an extensive program.

Continued Our International Journey.

With such an exciting 2023 journey in the UK, it is important not to forget about the successes of our team in Australia. With press coverage, internship programs, award nominations and a new customers joining the platform every day, our Australia Team, headed by the incredible Siobhan Whalley , although small, continue to grow from strength to strength.

Not only this, but, as demonstrated by our Head of Product, Matt Lowman , and CEO and Founder, Stella Smith, having been invited to the US London Embassy in honour of JB Pritzker , our exploration of new territories has truly just begun, and we are excited for our plans to expand pirkx in the upcoming year.

The Engine.

On top of our territory specific work, our global technology team have been hard at work on our most recent and ambitious project titled, ‘The Engine’. The Engine opens a new world of operating within the existing marketplace and will allow us to nimbly and immediately cater to all even more user cases.

The Engine will be revolutionary for pirkx functionality, and we cannot wait to show you all what we have been working on.

And Ended the year with an Accidental Campaign.

Finally to end the year, what started as just a conversation amongst our network quickly developed into an ongoing pirkx marketing campaign.

As a growth company, the pirkx fairy-tale wouldn't have happened without the help of so many amazing people helping us - from small things to big things both professionally and privately. Our #K2Help campaign started with us publicly discussing the importance of help and how it has allowed us to do what we do – but since speaking about it with others, it has spiralled into something really quite cool, with lots of people offering their expertise to join in to try to make ‘help’ a conversation.
