Our Partners at the Mining Indaba 2024

The 30th Mining Indaba was this year hosted in Cape Town from 5th – 8th February 2024, MI24, under the theme ‘Embracing the Power of Positive Disruption: A Bold New Future for African Mining’ – anchored on encouraging digression from the ancient traditional practices and promoting the use of modern, sustainable and technologically - advanced mechanisms in a bid to further ensure the development of the African mining industry.

Having had an opportunity to listen and engage with a broad spectrum of mining concerns, investors, government officials and other various stakeholders from across the continent, our partners were able to gain an insight into the challenges that the mentioned stakeholders face. This platform provided them with a better understanding of the issues faced in the sector and how how best the mining sector can be supported.

Some of the highlights from the Indaba include:

1. The vitality of the mining industry - seeing as this sector is a critical part of most countries economic growth, Zambia inclusive, on the basis that it generates the largest amount of export earnings/forex;
2. The role lawyers play in promoting strategic and preventive risk management;
3. How advanced technological systems can contribute to the efficiency and productivity in the sector;
4. The importance of sustainable practices;
5. Gender inclusion in the sector; and
6. Unexplored mining opportunities in various African countries, Zambia inclusive.

All in all #MI24, was arguably the largest and most insightful mining indaba yet in the last 30 years. The program surely paved the way for a daring new era in the African mining sector as it exposed several investment opportunities in the African continent at large. The firms’ exposure to the insightful event has definitely given the team an added edge to better cater for clients engaged in the mining sector and the ability to guide potential investors.

The Partners also enjoyed the sideline meetings and various interaction opportunities during the evenings in the beautiful Mother City.
