Our Very Living is Selling!

Glad I could finally lay my hands on the book "Secrets of closing the sale" by Zig Ziglar after keeping it aside for long many years thinking that it's a book for "Sales" folks!

Once I finished the book I realized that I am not a "Non- sales" professional. No one is!

" Our Very living is selling and We are all salespeople" -- James Cash Penney

Everyone is in "sales". Every Job is a Sales and Marketing job. We are all selling something - may be a product, or a service or our own capabilities, our expertise, our ideas, solutions or something else.

No matter our profession, the ability to influence, negotiate, persuade, charm, convince.... is essential to succeed just like in Selling!

This Book is primarily on the art of sales. But, beyond the immediate world of Sales, the book has profound life lessons too.

I really resonated with the emphasis on continuous personal development, right mindset, perseverance and the art of closing deals.

Here I am scribbling down some insights which I found noteworthy to file for future reference. Hope you also like it.

You are spot on, Prince. And even if some people do not have a vibrant selling gene, because some are more introvert/extrovert than others and some are genetically predisposed or educated to decode verbal and non-verbal signals, we should never underestimate the importance of learning how to sell or pitch an idea. To be a good seller, you must first understand your target audience. The more insights you have about their wishes, needs and preferences or how much knowledge they have about your topic etc, the better you can frame your pitch and be successful in whatever you are driving. When you are ready to engage in dialogue with your audience, remember that there is a reason why we have TWO EARS and one mouth. The better you are at listening and decoding body language and verbal expressions rather than speaking, the more likely you are to win the deal. In other words, know when to listen carefully and when to speak. Practice makes perfect.
