Our World Is Changing, But Building Trust is Timeless: How PwC is Meeting the Future Today

Today is an important day for PwC: We are announcing The New Equation, our new global strategy that will fundamentally reimagine our business in service of helping our clients to build trust and deliver sustained outcomes. The New Equation represents a great opportunity for our firm, and it also allows us to better deliver on our purpose – to build trust in society and solve important problems.

Why We’re Reimagining our Firm’s Future

We are launching The New Equation because of two fundamental and urgent realities: First, the world is changing at an unimaginable pace, and no entity is immune to disruption. Second, trust is the underpinning of everything we do and everything our society is built upon. It is inevitable that these realities will continue to intertwine, and it is our mission to help our clients solve for both – And as the stakes climb ever higher when it comes to earning and preserving trust, we know that it will only continue to gain value. Helping clients to navigate these concurrent forces, as we navigate them ourselves, is how we will set ourselves apart. Said differently, the business community is coming into its own as an agent of stability and progress in our chaotic world – and our goal is to help that community make bigger, better decisions as we help advance our society together.

What This Means for Our People & Clients in the US

If the last year has taught us anything, it is that we simply cannot go on doing things the way they’ve always been done – and for us, that includes how we help our clients achieve big things. Our job is to help them “peek around the corner” and understand how the trends shaping our world may affect them in the years ahead. What we know is that trust will be the defining factor in how businesses are able to achieve both profit and purpose – so in the US, we are aligning our people, capabilities, and technology into two segments designed to help our clients streamline how they build that trust:

  • Trust Solutions expands our ability to help clients earn trust by bringing together our Assurance and Tax Reporting capabilities, and making bigger investments in further tech-enabling them as part of our ongoing commitment to advance quality and excellence in the work that we do. Our clients’ and their stakeholders’ expectations are changing, and the scope of risks and opportunities for businesses are growing. As organizations are focusing on topics like ESG, diversity and inclusion, workplace safety, and data transparency and privacy, we are excited to meet them where they are with holistic thinking and seamless, high-quality services as the largest Trust services platform in the world!
  • Consulting Solutions represents the core of how PwC helps clients identify value and design and deliver impactful, business-led change. Essential to PwC’s revolutionary approach is our focus on sustained outcomes over activity, specifically in the areas of Deals, Transformation, Cybersecurity, Privacy and Risk, Cloud and Digital, and Tax Consulting. We’ve made big investments to digitally transform our business and upskill our people, as well as big bets on cloud, products and tech – and we will offer sharper answers driven through technology, human insights and global acumen to create successful, sustainable, and scalable change.

Organizations’ ability to serve broader societal needs is essential to winning trust. We believe this new strategy will give PwC and our clients the tools to deliver on, and surpass, that mandate.

Delivering On Our Purpose

We are always guided by our firm’s purpose: to build trust in society and solve important problems. It is our North Star. And The New Equation is a moment for us to continue to deliver on our purpose in big ways. I am proud to announce our bold new undertaking called Tomorrow Takes Trust. This is a three-year, $300 million commitment by our US firm to help embed purpose into today and tomorrow’s business leaders to drive responsible decision-making and ultimately build trust. It includes:

  • The PwC Trust Leadership Institute, which will help equip 10,000+ business leaders with the right skills to build trust as they deal with tomorrow’s challenges and realities. Designed for leaders and executives, including those within or preparing to ascend to the C-suite and corporate directorships, the PwC Trust Leadership Institute is a nine-pillared curriculum designed around the essential elements of building trust and solving important problems. It is a first-of-its-kind group, and we will collaborate with leading institutions to leverage their expertise. To learn more, click here
  • Access Your Potential: One of the greatest concerns facing our society is the opportunity gap, and the wealth gap that follows. We are making a $125 million commitment to help support a more equitable future for 25,000 Black and Latinx college students as they prepare for and begin careers by providing access to high-demand digital and career readiness training, upskilling, mentorship, and pathways to help start their careers. And we are excited to share that our aspiration is to hire 10,000 of these students into our own firm over the next five years.

We are also launching Tech Effect, a digital resource for business leaders who need to skill and scale up as technology drives change – to operate more efficiently, better serve customers, develop their workforce, generate new revenue, and live their purpose. This is a central technology resource hub that will empower leaders to get smart about technology – a curated and customized resource designed for our clients to learn and upskill and explore all PwC tech-related content and tools in one place, and will host in-depth features, explainers, executive briefings, timely podcasts, and interviews with leading thinkers and doers.

If the solutions to society’s greatest challenges were easy, our firm wouldn’t exist – and I know our people will create the solutions that continue to propel our firm, our clients and society forward. The New Equation and our Tomorrow Takes Trust commitments give us the right foundation to support that work for the benefit of all, and I’m so excited for what we have ahead of us. The future is bright because we are going to reimagine it together.

I hate that politics in PwC and other Big4 companies are different in the middle east (especially in Jordan) where its more of who you know rather than your qualifications to get in.. One could have a PhD and 15 years of experience and learning Quantum science but knows no one and be put aside , and a fresh graduate little girl could be team leader cause her uncle or cousin is a director/partner in the company.. Do you guys know of this in this region of the world in your affiliated companies or branches, or is it always shown different to you when ever global audit happens.. I'm honestly just wondering ??

Although a part of me gets it another part of me is like PWC needs training on how to build trust when I would have thought that was already part of what they did why would thre need to be a new initiative on this. Maybe just wording we are revisiting and emphasizing what it means to build trust
