1. Recognise Your Procrastination Triggers

For technical professionals, procrastination can often stem from feelings of overwhelm, fear of failure, or the perception that a task is too complex to tackle. Take note of the emotions or thoughts that arise before you start delaying work. Are you feeling anxious about a challenging project? Do you dread tasks that seem tedious or time-consuming?

By pinpointing these triggers, you can take proactive steps to manage them. For example, if feeling overwhelmed is your trigger, try breaking the task into smaller, manageable parts. This can reduce the pressure and make the task seem more approachable. Creating a distraction-free workspace and eliminating external triggers—like social media or TV—can help you stay focused.
