A page from every working mom's diary

It was the wee hours, maybe two or three. She was woken up by a playful glee.

Baby wanted to feed, that too for an hour. Satiating hunger is a mommy's super power!

"Let’s kickstart the day now", she said. She had already been up for long from her bed.

Made fresh juice and toast for breakfast that day. She sat down with a coffee and watched her baby play.

"Mommy, potty” said her toddler from behind. She left her coffee on the counter and got ready for the grind.

Brushed, dressed, and got the kids ready. The coffee you ask? Let’s forget that already.

She rushed to work after daycare drop-offs. Navigating the city traffic, she ain’t no Rudolph.

Her colleagues looked fresh as a lily. But she got no time to press her dress fully.

"Back from your vacation", asked Clyde. "You mean maternity leave?", she sighed.

"I went paragliding", said another new daddy. "That’s nice", she whispered looking at her healing postpartum body.

She loved her work, and took pride and joy. Came up with algorithms that others can employ.

Aced million dollar deals with just one hand. Holding her baby in another for as long as she can withstand.

The clock struck twelve and she rushed to the mother’s room. Her colleagues went to a fancy lunch with a puff of perfume.

She spent an hour making her baby food. And gulped her own lunch in five, she was in no mood.

The day flew by with more busy hours at work. She sometimes was the only woman in the room, is that a perk?

She is often guilted for choosing to work. No man ever gets asked this, a cause for her irk.

"Why should career and family be mutually exclusive", she thought. We must break the stereotypes, one life is all we got.

Took a deep breath and brought herself back to reality. Oh! the kids await, this mama needs to get home or they lose sanity.

The rest of the chores followed her through the night. It was almost twelve as she turned off the light.

Just two hours of sleep and she gets up again. Ready to feed the baby, shine or rain.

"What about her support system?", you ask? She’s got plenty of that and yet a long list of task.

You see, there are certain things only a mom can do. That’s the way evolution works, who can we sue?

This is just a snippet from the life of a working mom, my friend. I haven’t even gotten to the crazy days she has to fend.

So, the next time you see a mama juggle. Be an ally, support, and cheer her as she hustles!

Lovely read. And this is a #supportedmom - there are many more who have no #daycare or #nannysupport or who work from home and plays 2 roles throughout the day, and also cook and clean, homeschool along with all this.

Thank you for writing this.
