The Pain Of Power For Black Men

The Pain Of Power For Black Men

A group of Black male teens decided to walk through a gas station with ski masks on. One of them laughed and joked about a woman looking scared as he walked past her.

They were too immature to understand that the consequences of their decision could have been detrimental to their well-being.

They felt a sense of power through intimidation. They are constantly exposed to narratives in the media that portray Black men obtaining power only through intimidation and inflicting pain.

They see Black men rising up out of poverty and into power through the painful destruction of their own communities. These young Black men don’t understand that true power is being able to create a positive transformation in your community.

So many Black males are in pain because they feel powerless. They are trying to take back their power by transferring their pain. When we wonder why so many young Black males are killing each other, and involved in gun violence, we have to understand that they are in pain.

They don’t understand that when they kill another Black male, they are actually killing themselves. It may not be understood on a conscious level, but it needs to be understood on a spiritual level.

How can we help more Black males reclaim their power and release their pain?

We will discuss solutions in the Black Men Healing Lounge on October 25th.

If you are a Black man feeling powerless at work, at home or in any area of your life…it is time to reclaim your power. Let’s change the narrative so that generations of Black males will see the purpose of power instead of the pain of power.
