PAMA – Car Sales Increased By Massive 135%

Each month, we issue a report detailing the sales performance of all car manufacturers within PAMA. For several months, the automotive industry has been facing a persistent decline in sales. But this time, the beacon of optimism is shining through the clouds of ongoing challenges as the car sales has observed a slight jump last month.

As per the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report, month-on-month (MoM) car sales has increased by 12% last month, selling 10,515 in April 2024 compared to 9,381 vehicles in March 2024.

However, in a year-on-year (YoY) analysis, there’s been a staggering increase of 135%, thanks to the stability in Pakistani Rupee against mighty US dollar. Car manufacturers managed to sell 10,515 cars compared to 4,483 vehicles during the same period last year.

Two & Three wheelers

Similarly, motorbike and three-wheeler sales saw an impressive 15% increase last month, reaching 107,590 units compared to 93,606 units in March 2024. Atlas Honda sales surged by 19%, reaching 95,069 units last month, up from 80,139 units in March 2024.

Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki experienced a 5% increase, selling 1,684 units last month compared to 1,610 units in March 2024.

Trucks & Buses

Sales of trucks and buses experienced a remarkable downturn of 27 month-on-month (MoM), with 229 units sold last month compared to 312 in March 2024.

Company-Wise Sales Breakdown

• Toyota Pakistan witnessed a 21% increase in sales, selling 2,065 units last month compared to 1,705 vehicles in last month.
• Meanwhile, Honda Atlas witnessed a significant down of 54%, selling 1,003 units last month compared to 2,188 units in March 2024.
• Pak Suzuki Motors Company’s sales increased by considerable 46%, selling 6,000 vehicles against 4,101 cars in previous month.
• Hyundai Nishat increased by 18%, selling 686 units last month compared to 582units in March’24.

It is worth mentioning that sales numbers for Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton are not included in the report as they are not PAMA members.

Car-Wise Sales Breakdown

PSMC (Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company) sold 4,786 units of Alto, 320 units of Suzuki Cultus, 318 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 328 units of Suzuki Swift, 237 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 11 units of Suzuki Ravi.

Toyota Indus sold 1,722 units of Corolla and Yaris, and 343 units of Fortuner and Hilux.

Honda Atlas sold 956 units of City and Civic, and 47 units of BR-V/HRV.

Hyundai Nishat sold 111 units of Elantra, 95 units of Sonata, 227 units of Porter, and 253 units of Tucson.
