The Pandavas won the Mahabharata conflict, according to history, but the analytical intellect questions why. Compare the Pandavas' and Kauravas' warriors. Bhishma, Lord Parshurama's pupil, was undefeated just in combat against his own Guru, who wielded a plethora of celestial weapons.
Karna, another Lord Parshurama pupil, owns his Guru's Bhargavastra and has been recognised as a fighter equal to his Guru by the Guru himself. Dronacharya, the Pandava and Kauravas' preceptor, wielded Lord Brahma's sword and Lord Parshurama's celestial weapons, among other divine astras. Duryodhana was the best mace fighter of his generation and a supporter of Dronacharya and Lord Balarama. In the Kaurava camp, two soldiers had advantages of immortality and one had a boon of death at will.

Lord Krishna saved Arjun from conflict with the principal warriors till their weapons were expanded throughout the battle. Bheem, who could murder a thousand elephants, had to crack the regulations of conflict to beat Duryodhan, and he had no chance in front of Dhritrashtra, so a statue of him was set in front of the blind monarch to crush him. Lord Krishna revealed to the Pandavas at the end of the fight that Duryodhana's army was significantly superior to the Pandava army. Despite this, the Pandavas triumphed.
The Pandavas won the Mahabharata conflict because they existed on the aspect of dharma and pushed the Hari Karya, not because of their abilities. The Hari Karya must and will take place, regardless of the qualifications of the person who performs it. The Pandavas were allowed to become Hari Karya's instruments, and their victory was assured. Because it was Hari Karya, the Kaurava troop, despite their incredible military strength and innumerable supernatural powers, were powerless to prevent it.
Because there are barely two aspects to select from, every one of us has the option of joining one of them. There is no third option, and whichever flank one selects determines one's destiny. Joining the devil's side first appears appealing and lucrative, but in the lanky scramble, you will be a loser because the devil's prize is lesser dimensions. When you meet Hari Karya, the exact opposite happens. It's a difficult choice, but one that must be made at some point in one's life, if not this one, then the next, assuming one is given another chance as a human being on this planet.
