Forest Guardians
We are proud to announce the formation of a new group of Indigenous Forest Guardians, thanks to the support of Synergy Business Lawyers B.V.
In June 2024, technology, equipment and training were provided to 50 participants from the Arapiun, Jaraqui, and Tapajo groups in the Cobra Grande Indigenous Territory. The training was led by the head of the Treesistance Forest Guardians program - Chief Dada Borari and focused on territorial defence, map creation, and fieldwork using mobile technology.
Cobra Grande TI covers 8,906 hectares of primary rainforest and is one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth. This training and the formation of forest guardians will enable the community to protect their territory more effectively from illegal extractivism. This safeguards both their home and the forest, which the health of our planet relies upon.
