Part 3: Women's History Month
This is the wrap up of our series! To celebrate Women’s History Month, we asked members of Modivcare’s Female Empowerment Employee Resource Group to share their thoughts on leading other women, who inspires them, career advice and more.
Lindsey Dumont, Director, Finance Operations
1. What are the things you are doing to empower other women?
Understanding intersectionality of feminism, especially in professional settings, helps me be more self-aware and gives me actionable ways to dismantle bias towards female-presenting individuals. I encourage and support others to do the same, hopefully towards fostering a more flexible and supportive work environment.
2. Describe your leadership style.
Inclusive and transparent, as I continually work towards accountable, successful collaboration. I create spaces for my team to lead and provide support necessary to ensure they are successful. We meet our mutually owned goals and celebrate individual achievements and team successes.
Cary Rondon, Vice President of Operations, Member Care
1. Who is the most influential woman you know?
My mother. She inspires me still today at 91. She is fearless, kind, and relentless.

2. Why do we need more women in leadership?
Women bring unique perspectives, experiences, and insights to the table. Having diverse voices in leadership ensures a more comprehensive understanding of complex issues and promotes innovative problem-solving. Women leaders often approach problem-solving and decision-making differently, which can lead to more well-rounded and thoughtful outcomes. Women make up half of the global population, and their absence in leadership can result in a lack of representation and exclusion of important viewpoints. Having women in leadership roles helps ensure policies and decisions consider the needs and interests of the entire population.
Katie Dotto, Director, Government Affairs
1. What advice do you have for aspiring leaders who want to be in leadership positions?
Network, listen and learn. For every five people you meet, there are five more people they can introduce you to. Build your network to learn from other people's experiences. It also gives you an opportunity to identify a mentor who is critical in your professional development. You can ask them to coffee or lunch, pick their brain, and to be a sounding board throughout your journey.
2. What qualities make a great leader?
So many options to choose from! A great leader is self-aware, trusts their instincts, has compassion, and takes responsibility for all outcomes. It is incredibly important that leaders never ask their team to take on tasks they themselves would not take on.
