🇦🇺 Partner Visa Update: Bring Your Partner to Australia!

If you are an Australian PR holder or Australian citizen, and you want your partner to join you in Australia, the Partner Visa is the way to make it happen. Whether your partner is in Australia or offshore, there are options to help you reunite and build a life together.

Here’s a simple guide to help you understand the process, visa types, and key document requirements.

🛂 Partner Visa Types:

1️⃣ Subclass 820/801 – For those already in Australia

  • Temporary Visa (820): Allows your partner to live and work in Australia temporarily.
  • Permanent Visa (801): After holding the temporary visa for at least 2 years and meeting requirements, your partner can apply for permanent residency.

2️⃣ Subclass 309/100 – For those outside Australia (Offshore)

  • Temporary Visa (309): Allows your partner to come and live in Australia.
  • Permanent Visa (100): After meeting all requirements, this leads to permanent residency.

If your partner is currently offshore, the Subclass 309/100 is the visa they need to apply for. Once granted, they can join you in Australia and start a life together.

📋 Key Document Requirements (as per DHA):

Identity Documents:

  • Passport, birth certificate, and recent passport-sized photographs.

Proof of Relationship:

  • Evidence that your relationship is genuine and ongoing (e.g., joint bank accounts, shared bills, lease agreements, social media posts, wedding certificates, or photographs together).

Sponsor Documents:

  • Your proof of Australian PR or citizenship.
  • Financial capacity and a declaration that you will sponsor your partner.

Health and Character Documents:

  • Police clearance certificates from any country where your partner has lived for more than 12 months.
  • Medical examination reports to show they meet health requirements.

💬 Why Partner Visas Matter:

These visas not only allow your partner to live with you in Australia but also offer a pathway to permanent residency, ensuring you can build your future together without being apart.
