PCD Club back in #CapeTown for 2nd annual international networking dinner
Focused exclusively on the international private client sector, premier business networking club PCD Club has run more than 60 events in the last 3 years for over 5,000 guests. It allows organisations to create relationships and break into new markets with the minimum of time, effort and expense, promoting both profile and expertise in an effective and credible way to new and existing contacts.
After successfully launching in Cape Town last year, PCD Club is delighted to return to The One & Only Resort for a networking dinner in the South African city on Thursday 5 December. The event is sponsored by Jersey Finance, IQ:EQ and OMBA Advisory & Investment.
Commenting on IQ-EQ’s sponsorship of the event, Director Dean Douglas said: ‘IQ-EQ has extensive experience providing independent wealth structuring services to internationally mobile, high-net-worth individuals and families looking to protect their assets and plan for future generations – including many based in South Africa and across the African continent.
‘Following a period of exceptional growth and transformation, we are now one of the largest global players in our sector. We have ambitious plans for the future too, which will include continued investment in key growth markets within mainland Africa, particularly South Africa. So we’re delighted to have the opportunity to once again support the PCD Club dinner in Cape Town. My colleagues and I are looking forward to meeting and getting to know more of our fellow professionals from the region’s blossoming private wealth sector.’
Mark Perchtold, Director at OMBA Advisory & Investments, had the following to add: ‘We’re excited to share with PCD guests some of the key considerations when investing abroad and how advisors can embrace the use of ETFs in portfolio construction.
‘Our global, diversified, liquid, low cost and UCITS regulated fund of ETFs is becoming ever more popular with investors. The challenge of choosing from a swathe of global investment opportunities makes a single solution like ours ever more popular. Having been guests last year we’re delighted to be co-sponsors with Jersey Finance and IQ-EQ for the first time.’
Allan Wood, Regional Head - West at Jersey Finance, said: ‘Jersey Finance is delighted to be the Gold sponsor for the 2nd annual PCD dining event in Cape Town.
‘Jersey’s relationship with South Africa is not new and is ever evolving. Jersey has over many decades earned a positive reputation in South Africa for its first-class private wealth offering and expertise. Jersey plays an increasingly vital role in working with and supporting the wealth management strategies of South African private clients. Many South African families continue to focus on diversification within the investment space, pointing to the trend amongst families to move from traditional to alternative investments, such as real estate and private equity, whilst there was also interest in Jersey’s role in supporting social and impact investment. There’s a definite appetite amongst South African families to explore other investment options, and diversify a proportion of their wealth by investing in alternative assets outside of their country.
‘Jersey is particularly well practiced in the structuring, servicing and management of alternatives, and we see significant potential for Jersey firms in supporting this drive. Over the last decade, Jersey has seen a significant increase in the number of family offices, not only establishing on-Island, but also migrating to Jersey from other jurisdictions and this is an area of growth in the South African market that we see Jersey playing a vital role in.’
PCD Club events are designed to aid networking and maximise business development opportunities in a relaxed and social setting. The format of the evening will be a one hour drinks reception, followed by a networking dinner. Private client lawyers, accountants, wealth managers, bankers and trust companies will have the opportunity to circulate and meet professionals from a variety of specialisms and locations, all of whom serve wealthy international families.
