People, values and culture will make your business successful

Earlier this year ASB announced its partnership with New Zealand’s most successful team and arguably our most iconic brand – the All Blacks. Since then we’ve worked with them on some great campaigns. There was our entertaining announcement video, the GetWise session two players attended and the games we’ve been cheering them on for. Now we’ve worked with the team behind the team to bring you their business insights.

We’ve interviewed five members of the All Blacks and New Zealand Rugby management teams to find out what makes them so successful.  You can click here to watch the interviews and download resources to help you turn their insights into actions in your business.

When I first announced the partnership I talked about the similarities between ASB and the All Blacks; our two organisations have closely aligned values, ambitious goals, track records of success and relentless commitment to high performance. Each week on the ASB Blog you’ll hear from Steve Jurkovich, ASB Executive General Manager Corporate, Commercial and Rural. He’ll focus on one interview at a time and discuss the similarities between the organisations, giving you insights into ASB’s culture and vision.

Throughout the videos and Steve’s blog posts you’ll come across a common theme.

It’s the people, the values and the culture that make ASB and the All Blacks successful.

At ASB we talk a lot about our vision to be an unbeatable team delivering unbeatable service. At its core, this vision relies on people. Each member of our team has the opportunity to make a difference and contribute to our overall success.

We put a lot of focus on finding the right people, providing opportunities for them to use their strengths and encouraging their growth.

Thanks to our people and their continued determination to be unbeatable, over the past year we’ve celebrated a lot of achievements: we were named ‘The New Zealand Bank of Year’ by The Banker Magazine, we were the first New Zealand bank to receive the Rainbow Tick, we received a CANSTAR Innovation Excellence Award for Rural Environmental Compliance Loan and our Dog Ball Boys video won Silver for the Direct Marketing – Direct Other category at the AXIA awards.

Values and people are at the heart of everything we do at ASB and that leads to a great culture. And as Don Tricker, New Zealand Rugby High Performance Manager, puts it, “culture eats strategy for breakfast”.
