People Worth Meeting - The Safety Guy, The Letter Writer, The Firestarter, The 'Remarkable' and The Rescuer - The Coffee at Eleven Show S1, Eps 56-60

The tears came twice this week.

When Princess Shelley has to pass the show back because she is 'just at the edge of composure' you know you have just witnessed something special.

I think what has surprised us all, although it probably shouldn't, is the fact that real human connection has happened time and time again on The Coffee at Eleven Show, a COVID-born virtual cafe attracting an international audience daily to hear Yours Truly enjoy the privilege of chatting with 'People Worth Meeting' over coffee.

It is very, very special and I for one will be forever grateful for this unique time in history that has allowed our little show manifest.

This week we met The Safety Guy, The Letter Writer, The Firestarter, The 'Remarkable' and The Rescuer.

  • Monday: Episode 56, The Safety Guy, “Just Say Yes. The Present Will Pass So Look To The Future.” Kieran Linehan.
  • Tuesday: Episode 57, The Letter Writer, “No Is A Full Sentence” says Christine Duff before reading a '...letter to my 14-year old self."
  • Wednesday: Episode 58, The Firestarter, “Disconnection is at the root of Dis Ease” Stephen Brown told coffee at 11.
  • Thursday: Episode 59, The 'Remarkable', “Feel the Best you Can ~ Do the Best You Can.” Angela told how she lost 5 stone in 12 months.
  • Friday: Episode 60, The Rescuer, “There’s Money In Poverty. And There’s Money In Religion, Too, In Certain Parts.” warns Paddy O'Connor

Monday.

The Safety Guy,

People Worth Meeting – Kieran Linehan, Founder and MD Ayrton Group – The Coffee at Eleven Show REPLAY

“Just Say Yes. The Present Will Pass So Look To The Future.” Kieran Linehan told the Coffee at 11 audience

Kieran graduated as a nurse in 1991 and received a Safety Diploma from UCC in 1993 which he pocketed until receiving a Master’s Degree from Loughborough (UK) 2011. Another moment of significance occurred in 1993 when he started off in business by accident - by saying yes when asked by a production manager, where I worked as a machine operator- ne needed a safety risk assessment!- same weekend as Eurovision in Millstreet, when Ireland’s Niamh Kavanagh blew the roof off the Arena with her winning song, “In Your Eyes” Kieran told me, “My Mum was first ‘secretary & receptionist’- still says she never got paid!! However, we have grown from those early days to a situation where we employ 150 people - led by an unbelievable Team at Ayrton, headquartered in Newmarket Co. Cork with another Training Centres and offices in Tallaght, Dublin.” Ayrton Group offers services across Ireland, the UK & Mainland Europe. Outside of work Kieran has huge interest in the GAA and acts as Chairman of our Juvenile Club, Vice Chair North Cork division of Cork Juvenile GAA, is Physio to Meelin GAA & Cork Intermediate Hurlers (since 2005)- and has been involved in 14 All Ireland finals! Fair to say the café goers left having been both educated and entertained. Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and listen, learn and laugh alongside the LIVE audience in this fantastic replay. A Coffee at Eleven Show for the times we are in! #PeopleworthMeeting #CoffeewithColm #Coffeeat11

Tuesday.

The Letter Writer,

People Worth Meeting – Christine Duff– The Coffee at Eleven Show REPLAY

“No is a Full Sentence” Christine Duff of Anchor your Awareness told the coffee at 11 Show Audience, before reading a tear-jerking letter to her 14-year old self (one audience member said it should be compulsory reading for every young teen in the world)

Encouraging our International café audience to never allow somebody to “suck you dry of your sparkle”, Christine made us laugh and cry in equal measures today. Christine Duff believes that in life we cannot let labels of any sort define us; they can help to identify important issues that may need to be addressed but they do not define us. Her infectious compassionate personality did not go unnoticed; indeed, it is through all her dissolved relationships she has learned the true power of her uniqueness and continues to share this skill through her love of coaching. A qualified life coach with Neuroscience, and using her profound experiences, Christine enables people reach a more compelling alternative to the reality they are currently facing. Christine is a 33-year-old independent parent to a 10-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter, Has extensive knowledge and experience to share around the life lessons she has been lucky enough to gain at such a young age yet wise enough to share in a positive way with so many. The many toxic abusive behaviours and patterns and mental manipulation from various people has enabled Christine to become curious rather than callous. Her ability to change the most disastrous situation into a positive, including a life long illness which should have stopped her in her tracks physically she continues to surprise even herself on a daily basis. Fair to say the Christine left the café particularly ‘sparkled’ after her magic inspiration on today’s Coffee at 11 Show. Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and listen, learn and laugh alongside the LIVE audience in this fantastic replay. The Firestarter,

People Worth Meeting – Stephen Brown – The Coffee at Eleven Show REPLAY

“Disconnection is at the root of Dis Ease” Stephen Brown told the coffee at 11 Show Audience today.

Instilling in our International café that “Self-care looks very different for each of us and to do what’s good for you” and stating that “when your laughing you’re completely present in what is happening” Stephen had us mesmerised today with a few laughs too. Introducing Stephen Brown, a man who invites change into his life with curiosity, and freely shares what he learns with those he works with. His work is all about people and he uses numerous experiences, activities and modalities to help people connect with themselves, their communities and environment. He works with everyone from individuals seeking change to CEO’s that want to bring change to their organisation. Stephen has delivered events and training around the world and when he isn’t working, you will find him studying or off exploring with his family. Connection is at the core of his work. Connection to self, community, and the environment. A lot of this work is done through High Impact Empowerment Activities such as Firewalking, Glass Walking and more. Fair to say the Stephen left the café audience with a ‘fire in their belly’ to feel a fire under their feet. Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and listen, learn and laugh alongside the LIVE audience in this fantastic replay. The Rescuer

People Worth Meeting - Paddy O Connor – Cara Projects – The Coffee at Eleven Show REPLAY

“There’s Money In Poverty. And There’s Money In Religion, Too, In Certain Parts.” Paddy O'Connor, Founder – Cara Projects, Founder warns Coffee at 11 and then goes on to have us dissolve as he recounts the unbelievable story of a young Kenyan orphan, named Priscilla.

Founder of a charity in Kenya, Paddy O'Connor, is a self-employed welder and engineer. Together with Roisin Kelly, their charity, Cara Projects, operates a Girls Rescue Centre Outside Nairobi which looks after up to 35 girls at a time in the centre. Paddy told us that to date Cara Projects has 350 little girls on their books with 44 of them going to boarding schools. “We always try and place our girls back with a family member if at all possible and sometimes where the child might be living with a poverty stricken grandparent we find it is cheaper and easier to send this girl to boarding school where at least they will be educated but also fed and boarded”. Ladies and gentlemen, you will not believe Priscilla’s story! Rarely has the café been so moved. Tears flowed freely and unashamedly. Stick on the kettle, grab a coffee and a notepad, pull up a comfy chair and listen, learn, laugh, cry and count your blessings alongside the LIVE audience in this beautiful replay. A Coffee at Eleven Show we will never forget. #PeopleworthMeeting #CoffeewithColm #Coffeeat11
