Perfect Information Conference 2016
My colleague Darron Chapman and I recently attended the Perfect Information Conference.
Darron and I ran a pre-workshop on ‘Building your personal brand in the digital age’. Thank you to all who took part you had some really thought provoking comments.
I’m pleased to say at this years the conference content was very interactive with active participation from attendees throughout. After the presentations there was a real buzz with attendees debating the key topics impacting the future of the profession, from technology to changes in the workforce.
Key takeaways:
- Technology is taking away transactional work, reducing the size of information team required but increasing the complexity of the work remaining
- Offshoring of functions performed by junior staff in the past has left a talent gap
- There are new challenges as well as opportunities in adapting to the working style of millennials
- Find your voice – information professionals need to build a brand both internally and externally and get comfortable articulating their value
- The future of the profession is positive but its evolution will only get faster
I’m looking forward to next year’s conference, PIC is the must attend information industry event.
