Philosophical Reflections: Delving into the Nature of Existence

Philosophical Reflections: Delving into the Nature of Existence

This piece was initially posted on my personal blog.

Have you ever found yourself caught in the rush of everyday life, only to suddenly wonder: What is all this about? I had one of those moments not long ago. I was sitting by the window, watching the world go by, when a question bubbled up inside me: Why am I here? It wasn’t a casual thought—it felt like an urgent whisper from somewhere deep within. Have you ever felt that?

Why Do We Stop Asking?

Remember being a child, full of wonder, always asking why? Why is the sky blue? Why do we sleep at night? Why do we exist? Somewhere along the way, most of us stop asking these questions. We get busy with “real life,” with deadlines and responsibilities. But what if those childhood questions were the most important ones? What if they are the doorways to a deeper understanding of life?

A Moment of Clarity

I had a wake-up call recently during a hectic day with meetings and deadlines. I noticed the sunlight streaming through the window, creating patterns on the floor. It was a simple thing, really, but it made me pause. I realized how rarely I noticed such things anymore. And I wondered: What if these moments are what life is about? Not the big goals but the tiny, often overlooked experiences that happen in between.

Have you ever experienced a moment like that? A moment so small yet so profound that it shifts your perspective? What if our purpose lies in these moments, not some grand achievement?

The Great Chase for Purpose

We’re constantly chasing something—money, success, recognition. But why? What are we searching for? For a long time, I believed my purpose was tied to what I could accomplish. But in that quiet moment of noticing sunlight, I asked myself: Is this it? Is this what life is about?

What if the purpose isn’t something you find out there but something you experience right here? What if it’s not about doing but about being? And if that’s true, then isn’t the way we live entirely upside down?

Being Present: A Radical Act

Think about the last time you felt fully present, not distracted by thoughts of yesterday or worries about tomorrow. When was that? I used to think mindfulness was just a trendy word, but now I see it as a radical rebellion against a world that always wants us to be doing, achieving, and running. What if being present is the most powerful thing we can do?

Could our true power lie not in controlling every aspect of our future but in simply being here now?

Embracing the Unknown

We fear the unknown, don’t we? It’s like this giant, scary monster lurking in the shadows. But what if the unknown is not our enemy but our most excellent teacher? What if it’s not something to be feared but embraced? I’m learning to see the unknown not as something threatening my sense of self but as a space to discover who I am.

What if we dance with it instead of fearing what we don’t know? What would happen then?

Stripping Away the Labels

Here’s a challenge for you: strip away all your labels—the titles, the roles, the stories you tell yourself about who you are. Who are you without them? Scary, right? But maybe it’s also freeing. I used to define myself by my job, relationships, and achievements. But what if those things don’t define us?

What if we are something more—something deeper, something that exists beyond all the things we think we are?

Living in the Question

I don’t have all the answers, and maybe I never will. But I’m beginning to see that the point isn’t to find the answers but to live in the questions themselves. Let them guide, challenge, and push us to grow. To sit with the discomfort of not knowing and to trust that, somehow, this is enough.

So, let me ask you: What questions have you been avoiding? What thoughts have you pushed aside because they were too uncomfortable, too messy, too complicated?

An Invitation to Wonder Together

I’m learning to be okay with not knowing and to find beauty in the mystery, and I’d love for you to join me on this journey. What do you say? Will you take a moment today to pause, reflect, and ask yourself the big questions without easy answers?

Let’s embrace the mystery together, one question at a time. Because maybe, just maybe, that’s where the true meaning of our existence lies.

Tell me, what’s on your mind? What questions are you pondering today? Let’s explore this mystery of existence together.
