Photographers of the World Welcome to the Liberties, Dublin.

Welcome to Dublin, my city, a city with a rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking scenery that is sure to inspire any visiting photographer on the planet. One of the most interesting areas of the city for photographers to explore is the Liberties, It's the place where I was born and reared. It's located on the south side of the River Liffey. The area is full of historical and cultural significance, and it provides an excellent opportunity for photographers to capture the essence of Dublin. It's an urban area around the city of Dublin developed around.

The Liberties is one of the oldest areas of Dublin, with a history dating back to medieval times. It was once an industrial center of the city, with many factories and breweries operating in the area. Today, it is a hub of creativity, with artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs all contributing to the area's unique character.

Ten locations in the Liberties area that are worth visiting for photographers:

  1. St. Patrick's Cathedral - This stunning cathedral is one of the most impressive landmarks in Dublin. With its Gothic architecture and beautiful stained glass windows, it provides an excellent opportunity for photographers to capture the essence of Dublin's religious history.
  2. Guinness Storehouse - The Guinness Storehouse is a must-visit for anyone visiting Dublin. This historic brewery has been transformed into a modern tourist attraction, and it offers some great photo opportunities, especially in the Gravity Bar, where you can get a panoramic view of the city.
  3. Christ Church Cathedral - Another impressive cathedral in the Liberties area is Christ Church Cathedral. This building dates back to the 11th century, and it is full of history and character. Photographers will love capturing the intricate details of the architecture.
  4. Dublin Castle - Dublin Castle is another iconic landmark in the city, and it has been the center of Irish politics for centuries. The castle's gardens offer some great photo opportunities, and you can also take a tour of the castle to learn about its history.
  5. Kilmainham Jail - Kilmainham Gaol opened in 1796 as the new County Gaol for Dublin. While most of the prisoners were locked up, it also held political prisoners involved in Ireland's struggle for independence throughout 1916.
  6. St. Audoen's Church and Park - This medieval church is one of the oldest in Dublin, dating back to the 12th century. It has a unique round tower that is worth photographing, as well as some stunning stained glass windows.
  7. The Liberty Market - The Liberty Market is a bustling market that has been operating for over 200 years. It offers a great opportunity for street photography, as well as a chance to sample some local produce. The local traders are quite shy so do ask if it's okay to take photos in the narrow walkways of the market. Talk to Matt at the front door. Tell him Andrew sent you!
  8. Meath Street & Thomas Street - Both shopping streets are at the very heart of life in the Liberties area. No better place to get some amazing street photography and character faces.
  9. Dublinia - Christchurch Cathedral is an interactive museum that explores the Viking and medieval history of Dublin. It offers some great photo opportunities, especially in the recreated Viking and medieval streets.
  10. The Lark Inn Pub - 80-81 Meath Street is one of the oldest local pubs in operating in the Liberties, dating back to before 1900. It is full of character and charm, and it offers a great opportunity for photographers to capture the locals in their own environment. It is a great family pub and my local. The essence of our old traditional inner-city pub culture. If your stopping by Ask for John or Dave. Tell them Andrew sent yeh!!
