Pioneering Global Surf Tourism: A Strategic Leap with FESASURF

In an era where unique global experiences are the pinnacle of tourism, my team ( Haley N. , Kezia Khomasurya , Viral Vasant Kundhadia , Shabib Al-Ajmi and Saud Al Hilal, MBA , at Thunderbird School of Global Management, embarked on a groundbreaking project with the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador. Our mission? To spearhead the global ascent of FESASURF, the Salvadoran Surf Federation, with a meticulously crafted five-year strategic growth plan.

The heart of our strategy was a tiered approach, intricately weaving sponsorship, marketing, and operational excellence. Our journey began with a deep dive into FESASURF's current standing, meticulously analyzing its operational capabilities, market position, and competitive landscape. This foundational understanding paved the way for an innovative blueprint, tailored to catapult FESASURF onto the global stage.

In the realm of sponsorship, our focus was twofold: securing robust partnerships and elevating brand alignment. We harnessed cutting-edge market insights to identify and court potential sponsors, ensuring mutual growth and alignment with FESASURF's vision.

Our marketing strategy was a blend of traditional wisdom and modern innovation. We revamped FESASURF's digital presence, aligning it with its core values and the pulsating energy of the surf community. Our content strategy was not just about visibility, but about creating resonating narratives that celebrated the spirit of surfing and the unique offerings of El Salvador.

Operationally, we championed a culture of agility and continuous learning. From cross-functional training to streamlining processes, our goal was to forge an organization that was as dynamic and fluid as the sport it represented.

This capstone project was not just a consultancy; it was a transformative journey. We didn't just deliver a strategy; we laid down the stepping stones for FESASURF's journey towards becoming a beacon in global surf tourism.

As we look forward, the waves we've set in motion with this strategic plan promise to ripple across oceans, inviting surf enthusiasts and global tourists to the pristine shores of El Salvador. This project stands as a testament to the power of strategic foresight, collaborative spirit, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism of El Salvador, Shane Loorz , our mentor Dr. Tom Hunsaker and Thunderbird School of Global Management for this incredible opportunity and team members who turned this vision into reality. Here's to making waves and charting new tides in global tourism!
