Plant Tree-Root Movements Instead

The cool thing about most grasses is that they spread quickly, given the right cultivation.

Once you lay down the sod, spread the seed, or sprigs, it’s self-propagating.

This is where the idea of the “Grass-Roots Movement” come into play.

An idea that spreads, becomes decentralized and ends up taking over a space.

However, as anyone that has grown hay (or manicured a front lawn) will tell you, there are a few problems with this simplistic analogy.

Primarily in how much work it takes to cultivate grass. It doesn’t just happen on its own.

But the biggest problem is that while grass roots are excellent for covering ground, preventing erosion, holding things in place… they don’t move things.

Tree roots, however, grow through rock.

Tree roots lift foundations.

Tree roots break walls.

Tree roots crack concrete.

They don’t grow fast, but they do grow strong. And deep. And durable. And that slow, constant, ever-increasing pressure eventually causes whatever is resisting it to crumble.

Whether building a brand, starting a movement, or furthering a cause, if you’re looking to plant the seeds of change…

You may want to consider planting trees instead.

Now go get your hands dirty,
