Is Playing For Comfort And "Good Enough" More Important Than Playing For The Win?

You can easily spot someone playing to win. They are the quiet one and they are playing a game few can imagine. They are constantly reading to the point where you ask who their favorite author is and they ask what genre and then have an answer for that genre. They are comfortable being uncomfortable.

These are the ones who have minimal tolerance for playing the game to not lose. They know playing to win means being uncomfortable and knowing that’s what it takes to grow. This is the part of the adventure we say we want until the opportunity shows up… That’s when we have something else we need to do.

This past weekend Tiger Woods entered the Master’s Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Far too many people who aren’t playing to win cannot understand why he even bothered to make the trip. He has multiple Green Jackets, more trophies than he can count and he’s personally made in excess of $1 Billion Dollars during his career. He entered anyway and did everything he could to win. Tiger made the cut and was forced to withdraw toward the end of the third round for “Undisclosed reasons related to an injury.”

A spokesperson for Tiger announced the withdrawal and when pressed for answers none were provided. This lack of an excuse was without question at Tigers direction. Later it was learned that allegedly a screw from one of his many surgeries came loose and was backing out through the skin. The penetration from that screw left one of his socks bathed in blood. To my knowledge there is nothing official from Tiger about this. I will take a warrior who will fight this hard and fucking hates to lose at this level any day! Are you uncomfortable? No? Let’s talk about that… Call me now.

My name is Steven Clauson.  I coach people who want help getting where they want to be. The people I coach are typically already taking action, getting results and ask what’s next and what actions to take to make an even greater impact. They aren't afraid to ask for help. How can I help you? What actions are you taking?  Those who have a plan and implement that plan lead the pack. Planning, preparing to win and taking appropriate action means you hear the word "YES" more than ever. Only if you are one of the few willing to take action, do what's required and play full out are you likely to hear the word yes more often. People hearing the word "YES" are winners on the playing field because they play full out and dominate. For these people results matter. Tired of results less than you know you can produce?  Call me at 916-230-0176 or visit www.assaultmarketing.com
