Point-2-Ponder/Ver. 20.71021

The goal of this series of regular posts, until further notice, is to offer up for consideration points for contemplation represented by topical cognitive development. This differs from submitting for consideration an ideal in which adoption or debate ensues.  As has been our thinking from the onset it’s not about creating adopters but developing mindsets, on your terms in such a way that respectful dialog can occur. Without this cognitive development we are left with fact less and often emotional contention that polarizes not grows societal development.

Even the most active and creative thinkers have their moments. As is often the case though occurs as a result of some form of environmental stimulus. It may be the result of events, discussions, or that lingering thought that for some reason has come to the surface. It’s this ebb and flow in discernment that creates points-to-ponder (P2P). 

  • Countering a situation has reached a new low in the course of questionable and unreliable media and sources. Some of the favorite tricks used are subtle but create polarization amongst parties. Some of the ones we have observed used include,

o  Diversion of suspicion by way of using another incident to raise question as to whether it might be the reason,

o  Use of inflammatory words to incite loyal responses even though there is no credible proof,

o  Reference to history as a fact and void of contextual consideration,

o  Attack from one side remaining silence as to the sins of self, and

o  Failure to understand that same situations can have different meanings (and in most cases how it is treated in terms of response).

  • What causes low or slow pondering rates? Is it preoccupation with other matters, narrowness of thought, tired, mental detoriation, lazy or some other undiscovered cause that creates a black abyss?  At least we can be alert to it and evaluate the cause(s).  Don’t give up on thinking!
  • Why do we post to social media? Do we have an objective or are we feeling some need for personal satisfaction, all the while believing we are some sort of miracle advocate?  Those that could recognize and reward are apt to never pay you a mind, the audience that could be influenced is not connected or interested, persuasion is inflammatory and not constructive and the real damage is to ones own character representation. The written word is flat and contention can occur at the drop of the tone in which it is written. At least a face can express the underlying tenor of the dialog.  The upshot is that we seldom convert people to believe or follow, misinformation is perpetuated, conjecture creates conspiracy theories, attention is narrowly achieved and nothing positive is attained.  YOU (WE) are not the salvation of the world, we are not the spokesmen nor are we the definitive and deciding source. So is this a fool’s folly of self-indulgence?

This is a relatively short list but on some very serious, important and reflective topics. It is being posted one day early to do other commitments that preclude us from posting on our normal Saturday schedule. Matters will return next to it’s normally scheduled timeframe.
