Political Elite Privatizing the Kenyan Constitution

The 27/09/2010 goes down in Kenya’s history as one of the most trans-formative days. For with a single stroke of his pen the then President of the Republic his Excellency Honorable Emilio Mwai Kibaki changed Kenya’s beleaguered history forever or so her electorate thought.

A few moments later as he presented the celebrated constitution the world over to a jubilant and ecstatic Wanjiku (nick-name for the struggling oppressed and depressed masses actually a name of a hardworking woman from the Kikuyu tribe a predominant and most populace tribe in Central Kenya). As he held the constitution aloft to the cheers and ululation of ‘Wanjiku’ the armed forces canons broke into a 21-gun salute and the band played the Kenyan Nation Anthem “Oh God of all Creation bless this our land and nation justice be our shield and defender”…|a befitting embrace and welcome to the revival of a democracy so appropriate and grand a moment heralding the rebirth of a nation that had endured untold pain, suffering and misery afflicted upon her by its own children; her leaders for over four decades.

As Wanjiku cheered and ecstatically ululated cognizant that a fundamental change had happened liberating her beloved motherland from the humiliation and bondage of wanton ethnicity catalyzed bloodletting, corruption and dictatorship synonymous with each election period amongst a litany of maladies afflicting Kenya.

Wanjiku sighed in relieve that her children would eventually dwell in peace, love and unity oblivious to the fact, there was nothing inherently incompatible with her off-spring but tribalism was and still is an ideology of the ruling-class that she mistakenly thought or rather manipulated to think was a constitutional malady.

That tribalism, corruption and devastating tribal blood letting were a diabolical engineering by the shameless megalomaniacal dimwitted thieves and rapists of her common-wealth who masquerading as her leaders and or liberators, the Ruling-Class. These political class shamelessly exploited tribal difference at Wanjiku’s peril not to mention corruption was rampant as well as the president all mighty and powerful making appointments without parliamentary oversight consequently able to create a bloated cabinet filled with bigoted, entitlement filled fat-cats or rather ‘MPIGS’ (‘Wanjiku’s pet name for her insatiably greedy politicians) as opposed to morally upright servants of the people that She desperately needs and deserves.

The electorate/Wanjiku was blind-sided to appreciate there was no separation of the executive, legislation and judicially. The politicians/Ruling-Class masterfully ensured Wanjiku was not the wiser in realizing it\s system of governance supported and encouraged tribal competition pitying brother against brother, brother against sister, sister against brother or sister, uncle against nephew and niece, father against son and daughter etc. The fact that tribalism and corruption thrived and prospered at the expense of national cohesion and development because accountability was non-existent if at all.

To rub salt to injury the land issue the backbone which forms the heart of tribal identity was not spared either. What with the political-class carving and parceling it as the club to beat her into submission, in manipulating electoral numbers in return for political favours? Gullible ‘Wanjiku’ including some political analysts fell for the ‘Most Progressive Constitution’| charade hook, line and sinker. Falsely believing that the new constitution would tackle and remedy these atrocious self-inflicted maladies once and for all.

What with the most troublesome afflictions healed?

A land commission to remedy previous injustices.

A citizen’s bill of rights empowering depressed and oppressed Wanjiku.

A constitutional limitation curtailing the number of cabinet posts the almighty and high president could dish out.

A parliamentary oversight curtailing presidential appointments and dictates.

A Senate to oversee parliamentary decisions.

It has been 10 years now and nothing much has changed if anything at all, suffice to say the more things have changed the more rather worse things have gotten. Other than minuscule cosmetic changes nothing much has really changed.

Now there are talks of yet another referendum projected to cost billions of shillings (I’m inspired to sate; They seek to privatize the Constitution, and Kenyans should not let them); of-course funded by emaciated, oppressed and depressed Wanjiku to allow the same MPIGS (Wanjiku’s corrupted pet-name of her diabolical gluttonous politician MP/Member of Parliament) another chance on the feeding-trough. As she is mercilessly raped, maimed and oppressed as beloved Motherland remains distressingly divided along tribal lines and corruption inspired poverty devours her scions.

As I conclude, I’d love to present to fellow Kenyans, the greater African and the entire worldly civil society and governments. As in George Orwell’s despotic classic titled Nineteen Eighty-Four; Mr. Orwell depicts a hideous daily ritual called Two-Minutes Hate in the novel you will realize that at a precise time the entire nation would go through a manic Ruling-Class initiated edict. In this ruling we see despite anyone imposing anything on anyone. A hideous trance like state would take over moving the citizenry to torture by smashing faces with sledge-hammers resulting in wanton blood letting and in extreme cases even death. This sounds and feels like Kenya every 5 years during the electioneering season.

Id like to present the Ruling-Class and its parasitic elite/now christened Cartels/Deep State; Kenyan individuals that have amassed extreme ill gotten wealth at the expense of her people worst of all Kenya’s future generations have mastered to the tee and utilized the Orwellian mind game by exploiting Kenya’s gullible countrymen selective amnesia through conditioning them to forget atrocious incidences that has afflicted them in the past.

A case example as I write the Ruling Class spearheaded by the current president are on recording drumming support for a constitutional change. Reasoning that the genesis of Kenyan misery emanates from the Constitution’s “Winner takes all” clause; a demented allusion designed to convince the impressionable electorate to believe people fight during elections because of the constitution’s “Winner takes all” clause but nothing could be further from the truth.

As much as I agree with His Excellency that the “Constitution is a living document” consequently has to change with the times. I’d love to present to our people and the extended African, and Global Civil Society that Kenya has one of the most progressive constitution celebrated the world over. That has done very little if anything at all to safeguard Kenyans from the endemic wanton blood-letting synonymous with her electioneering season. Meaning there is nothing intrinsically wrong in this celebrated document. But rather the allusion that there is a problem with the constitution are dimwitted half truths being dispensed by a few greedy, power hungry individuals that do not have the nation’s best interest at heart but individuals hell-bent on self-preservation at the expense of the greater and larger Kenyan Community. Let it be known that Kenyans never fight because of electoral outcome per se. But the skirmishes and unnecessary blood-letting pet-named Post Election Violence (PEV) is often than not a product of hired goons; usually poor desperate brainwashed sycophantic individuals hired by elitists politicians to selectively harass, plunder, maim and kill innocent civilians who have been regrettably labeled “Enemy Tribe” just like the characters in George Orwell’s dystopic literally work.

Wise up beloved countrymen to the wiles of the Ruling-Class and its parasitic/”cartels aka Deep State’. Appreciate the fact you are being remotely controlled and maneuvered to cause havoc on innocent countrymen. Kenya belongs to all who live in it; meaning it is encumbered upon all to protect each other. Realize that power belongs to the people. It is your inalienable right for “People Power Is Higher Power” (A quote from FreeKenya a popular people driven initiative agitating for real and meaningful changes for the people www.freekenya.or.ke).

Now that the two protagonists and mutually hostile leaders have reconciled proverbially burying the hatchet by shaking hands. I urge cautious optimism for the so-called cease fire might just be a harbinger to further merciless raping of beloved motherland’s common-wealth. Rest assured it does not mean the ‘Enemy Tribe” narrative has changed. This might just be an invention of greedy, shameless individuals who don’t have the country’s best interest at heart but a devious scheme devised for self-preservation. Truth be told about the historical PEV (Post Elections Violence) is an outcome of a diabolical narrative “They Are Stolen”!!!; but who steals them?!!! Should be the question in the mind of every peace-loving patriot, given the constitution does not advocate nor sanction stealing of elections. How in God’s name is the problem “The Winner Takes All?!!!” Other than an irrational account from the same bigoted power hungry and greedy individuals; the Political-Class and its parasitic Cartels/Deep State, a group of brazen individuals that have been cycled and recycled since Kenya became a Republic.

Cognizant of the fact there is a need to remedy the monstrosities, these very same lot is not willing to change nor correct the status quo; after all it has served them extremely well, turning some if not all of them into ultra-wealthy individuals; some overnight billionaires. Instead the discourse should and must change the scape-goat the Constitution’s “Winner Must Take All” perspective. Bearing in mind that this very Constitution has served the current regime very well. Question should be what has changed today?!!! To rub salt to injury it is the very same document the president is blatantly trampling over. Lets not forget it is more than a year since he refused to admit judges, it is also not too long ago that His Excellency issued extra-legal orders to the dreaded police service; thankfully the courts over-turned these but the president has defied these rulings under counsel from the Attorney-General. Let’s not forget the legislature continues to behave the same way. A case example the legislators have failed to legislate the two thirds majority gender rule. They are also on record legislating un-constitutional devolution edicts. But thankfully the Chief Justice has gallantly stepped in and done something about it. Question is will the president honour the Honorable Chief Justice’s counsel?!!!

As I earlier alluded; there is nothing intrinsically wrong with the celebrated constitution but rather the quandary squarely lies with the politicians; individuals that should not be trusted for a minute with the changing of our supreme decrees. Having failed to demonstrate any meaningful nor sustainable gains for the electorate it is absolutely clear the current administration bears no good will to it’s subjects. For instance, the President’s betrayal and mistreatment of his deputy is a glaring red-flag to the motivation behind the expansion of the executive. Meaning, if today we have two hostile factions diametrically opposed to each other in charge. Isn’t that a recipe for disaster if the proposal on the table is offering five or more individuals power? Beloved countryman can you envisage the mayhem they’ll unleash in the future when the honey-moon and gravy train glide’s to a halt? As a practicing Christian and preacher of The Word of God I have no qualms prophesying the Orwellian literally work will fade into insignificance the day they disagree. PASSOP (Afrikaans for BEWARE) it will not end well, nothing but misery awaits Kenya when this diabolical is allowed.

As much as there are areas that need redress the constitution is okay as is. What is needed is for Wanjiku to arise from her slumber and unite in common bond united and declare ENOUGH IS ENOUGH HERE AND NO FURTHER!!! Unanimously unite and overwhelmingly vote in a fresh breed of Godly, god fearing and Inspired servants of the people because this is what leadership should be. I am of the opinion God as rejected the current administration. Consequently, a people driven Tsunami should wash away the current bigoted corruption blighted leaders starting with the most insignificant to the most significant. Over and above these all and sundry should and must devote self to a moral regeneration if Kenya is to take her rightful place that God predestinated her before the foundation of time as the world increasingly gravitates to the close of age. God bless and revive Kenya.
