THE POODLES OF PARK AVENUE BY KAREN-CHERIE COGANE CELEBRATE AUTUMN 2020!
“Hi! It’s Simone, the Park Avenue poodle, and bonjour to Fall! Colorful leaves are scattered on the ground, and nature’s beauty surrounds.
Orange, red, and yellow foliage adorn, as well as acorns.
Ah, the splendor of the new season that is quite pleasing.
Pumpkin, and berry pies, and at home baking take center stage. Nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, and cinnamon are sprinkled in, to enjoy during a meal, or on a whim. Spices entice.
I did have a good time at the Long Island shore, and Summer life was not a bore.
Seashells and sand showed off the pretty land.
I’m not boasting, but I romped with my beau, Ricardo, in the Atlantic Ocean.
Ate peaches and strolled on the beach.
When the tide rolled in, mother made din. We sat on the deck and ate, and the surf and turf -- seafood and steak were great.
Kept refreshed and real cool by splashing in my pool.
Frolicked and played during the sunny days.
Wore sunscreen, so I did not get too much of a sheen.
But this Summer was different. There was an invisible cloud that hung over us, in the name of the corona virus.
Thank goodness my family is well. Nevertheless, much smaller gatherings were hosted by Raymond and Grace at our Hamptons place.
People wore masks and social distanced, in all group instances.
Mom’s such a good wife and planned our adjusted social life. She cheered dad up and gave more attention to me, her pup.
Back in the city, my poodle feet felt Summer heat. Paw rubs and massages can’t be beat.
Frank walked us to other NYC streets, and we explored new eats. Mostly, Frank got us our food to-go, for me and Ricardo, my poodle beau. And Mojito, the nutty Chihuahua, had his usual complaining about everything bow-wow.
But now I hope to have a ball in Fall!
Enter sweater weather. Dogs wear them, too. Yahoo!
Kids put on knee socks, and humans change the clocks.
The air gets crisp and cool, and the tykes want to return to their school.
Lessons may still be partly online to keep the children, teachers, and staff healthy and fine.
Eager faces can’t wait to enter classroom spaces.
Time to learn interesting things, and kids want to hear the bell ring.
Reading and writing are exciting.
Things children yearn for:
New school supplies to make young minds feel wise.
Hitting the books and getting cubbies or nooks.
Lunch boxes filled with sandwiches and snacks, and charms dangling from backpacks.
In person meeting your teacher and cheering your team on the bleachers.
Your pals come up to you and smile, and they say: ‘Haven’t seen you in a while!’
Re-connecting in person with old friends and being introduced to those who are new: ‘How do you do?’
Parents want to resume picking up their mini-me, as they stroll down the street: ‘What do you want to eat? What is your homework tonight? And I hope you didn’t fight.’
Bien sur, I’ll still scamper with Ricardo and Mojito in the leaves, in Central Park, as our dog walker escorts us home before dark.
In a dash, my boyfriend catches the Frisbee with panache. He’s such an athlete, and I love to watch him perform feats. By his side, I watch him in pride: ‘It’s not my Beauty Day, so toss me one, okay?’
When Frank offers us yummy bacon treats, I chime in: ‘Pop some in for me to eat!’
Mojito gets peeved and heaves when he gets covered with leaves. Frank picks him up: ‘Stop being stressed. It’s just a little mess.’
I want to watch TV shows that premiere at this time of year. I’m tired of reruns and want new fun. Dramas, comedies, and musical and dance reality TV for my family and me.
Halloween arrives soon with witches, ghosts, goblins, and a full moon. Lots of eating, but will there be trick or treating? I don’t know, but I hope so.
The parties will probably be small and at home, but just give me my Halloween doggie candy, some human stuff, and my steak bone.
Costumes for people and pooches galore. And there’s more.
Hot chocolate coated with marshmallows for gals and fellas ... Whipped cream mounds abound.
Leaf shaped cookies are all around town.
Picking pumpkins and apples, and Fall flavored Snapple . . .
The holidays come after, as we share food and laughter. As long as the humans who are dear are near, we’ll get through the holidays this year. If we can’t be in the same room, we’ll Zoom.
Do you wonder how a poodle like me has this point of view? Sometimes I do, too.
Even though you put away your summer shorts, rompers, and tanks, give thanks.
Today’s a new day. Yay! Let’s be happy, not sad, and make your parents proud and glad.
Try and don an upbeat Autumn attitude, and hopefully, you’ll be in a new season good mood. Times will improve.
Think of Fall styles to make you smile. Working at home you’re probably wearing relaxed outfits, but put on your spiff!
Fall 2020 trends are undeniably stylish . . . unequivocally beautiful . . . surely sexy . . . certainly stunning . . .
Innovation is in the air with chic clothes and colors to wear. And this Fall's palette is IT:

16. Cabernet, Merlot, and Burgundy hues are in fashion and look dashing.
17. Pantsuits are perfectly polished. Pair it with a feminine shirt when you go to your office, or you're at home to work. Makes you look put together in the colder weather.

19. Ruffles, flounces, sequins, embroidery, and elegant lace suit Grace. The embellishments adorn sleeves and necklines, and make you look mighty fine. Decorating dresses, shirts, slacks, and the rims of shirts . . . Dress like a lady, and you’ll still be strong. You can’t go wrong.

29. Other patterns are popular this Fall, such as: brocade, paisley, pinstripes, quilted, and patchwork. Or choose argyle for a preppy style.
30. Sophisticated silhouettes in the plushest velour and velvet yet. Hugging you with the softest fabrics . . . Dressing to the nines is sublime!
31. Boho chic shines in outfits. Mix and match. Natch. Gives a romantic spin. Are you in?
32. Dusters - Wrap yourself in sweaters that are long, and perhaps sing a melodic song.
33. Wear an open sweater and reveal what’s underneath, perhaps a sheath? Or cinch it with a belt, and keep your sweater closed. Then do a “Look at me!” pose.
34. There’s decorated scrunchies for gals and doggies. Put your hair in a high pony, and you’ll look tony. Perfect for my Sheepdog pal, Lexi with the fur in her eyes. I might try it. Match your tresses’ accessory to your outfit, and you’ll be a hit.
35. Stylish capes do the trick. Walk into a room, and the guys will swoon. And let’s not forget how you’ll look from the back. Attention you will not lack.
36. Midis are tres pretty. Please your beau as your legs show. Or opt for a feminine maxi, do a spin, and entice him.
37. Pleated skirts, long or short, are proper. How about adding a peasant blouse topper? Add textured tights for day or night.
38. Color-blocked and mixed media patterns will make heads turn.
39. Jeans that are deconstructed, or have slits, stripes, flounces, or creature designs are fine. Select high waisted jeans, ankle length, bootcut, or straight, and you’ll look great.
40. Jogger pants are not just workout wear. Put on exciting prints, and people will stare.
41. Fancy leggings in patterns or solids are in style, and hopefully, for a while. Ponte, cotton, polyester, or blends, on them you can depend.
42. Wear suede or leather booties, and those that button or zip up. Do they have them for fashionable pups?

48. Colorful spectacles and dramatic sunglasses pull it all together -- ideal for Fall weather.
49. Be hands free with a crossbody, and why not sip spiced cider or a hot toddy? Sounds good to me. Designed with croc, alligator, or python, these bags are right on. Rejoice, there are so many choices. Maybe opt for a clutch for the evening. Go for a mini bag, an organizer, or a purse shaped liked a box. Perhaps carry a hobo, a heritage bag, or a soft leather hold-it-all tote. Come on, you can gloat.
50. The 1970’s and psychedelic colors in clothes are back in style. Why not give it a try? Imagine doing the hustle or grooving to the Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin’ Alive.’ Think disco balls, and you’ll feel ten feet tall!
51. Put on high boots, low, or western inspired, and you’re sure to smile.
52. Shackets, the combo of shirts and jackets are here. Perfect for this time of year. You might pair a denim or corduroy shacket with jeans. Or switch your blazer for a wool shirt jacket. Keep warm with a flannel or canvas shacket.
53. And then there's the short sleeve baby doll dress or the jasmine dress. Put the cute look to the test.
54. Cropped blazers are on trend to pull it all together in Fall weather.
You’ll find your signature look. Be positive, and liven up your closet.
And now, listen up for tips on new Fall makeup:
1. Inspired by the ‘70s, black eyeliner gives eye drama, whether you’re single, married, or a mamma.
2. Ditto for vinyl looking lips. Glossy and sassy, you’ll be a hip lassie.
3. Rose reigns for the pretty pout.
4. Or put on orange lipstick, Fall’s special harvest hue for you.
5. How about wine colored makeup? Rich shades are the rage. Comes in shiny and matte. How about that? Gloss or lipstick -- It's your pick. Eye shadow palettes coordinate, maybe for a virtual date? Why not sip a glass of wine, as your beautiful face and personality shine?
6. Silver and metallic shadows for your eyes give a striking element of surprise.
7. Or go bolder and try a punk deep burgundy lip look. Then open up a vampire book. Combine it with a pompadour, and you’ll be a gothic inspired her.
8. Be daring: Paint dark nails, and slick back your hair. Beware, strong and powerful women are everywhere!
9. On the softer side, pink in the lip shade of bubblegum and brighter pink tones on the eyes, as well as fuchsia blush, make us gush.
10. Mascara in striking colors, including white, livens up any night. Go on, flutter your lashes.
11. Highlighter on the cheekbones creates a lit-from-within look. Think brands like Too Faced, Stila, MAC, Urban Decay, and NARS. And, wearing highlighter doesn’t make you look like you’re from Mars. Brush it on with light strokes, and you’ll have a soft glow. Add clear or light pout gloss for a dewy effect.
12. And as for statement-making lips, don’t forget about the power of red. You’ll be striking and to everyone’s liking. Va Va Voom when you Zoom or are in any room!
13. Accentuate with bronzer to make yourself Autumn real with a cozy and warm feel. Dab it on your cheeks, or gloss bronze on your lips. Pick up your chin, and then stick out your hips. Confidence personified, show your pride. Summer may be done, but Fall has just begun!
14. Who doesn’t like a beautiful sunset? How about matching the horizon with golden eye hues that are mesmerizing? Various subtle shades or maybe a sparkling golden pop, will make you feel like you’re tops.
15. Select a lip or eye shade that’s nude, if you want to reflect the 90’s attitude.
16. Mascara and eyeliner in the color of green, evoke cool and serene.
There are so many options, but your makeup doesn’t have to scream and shout. Feeling good about yourself is what it’s all about.
Wearing a feminine outfit, perhaps you can tone down your makeup a bit. If you don fake or real leather, you might go for a dramatic looking face. Or you can do the opposite. Have fun and experiment. Wear a lot or just a hint.
And who doesn’t want a well-dressed pooch? Best of all, here are the dog trends for Fall:
1.Graphic printed hoodies, especially with skull and crossbones. They’re for to see and be seen, including at Halloween.
2. Dog sweater vests stand out, so your furry friend is protected from the elements and in style. It might even smile.
3. Herringbone tweed sweaters with matching or color-coordinated collars and fleece lining keep your pooch cozy on the cold days. She or he will look like he’s in the UK. How about English tea today?
4. Rain coats for canines are chic, and here’s the scoop: They’re lightweight, often reversible, and waterproof.
5. Enter chunky knits, and they’re not just for the gals and kids. Dogs wear these attractive oversized sweaters. And what could be better?
6. Fashion-forward pooches go for metallics. Other doggies will be green with envy, as gold coated canines strut and shine.
7. And how about a quilted vest in bold red with touches of corduroy for your adorable four-legged girl or boy?
8. Gingham shirts, often with floral bow ties, catch the sophisticated canine’s eye. Tortoise shell fake buttons decorate and make any pooch look great. Who knows? He or she might even do a GQ or Vogue pose.
My mother’s a fashionista, and as for poodle me, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
I'm a high class dog, can’t you tell? Prepared to cast my spell.
In early Autumn, I prefer doggie dresses to accentuate my white tresses.
Rest assured that we’ll showcase looks that belong in popular style books. Grace shows me the fashion mags, and I respond with tail wags.
Outfits for both mom and me will make me happy as can be. Let’s coordinate for a lunch date.
And I want matching pjs, so we can have a slumber party. Pop the popcorn (I might sneak a few pieces), turn on the TV, add a big snuggling blanket, and Grace, Ricardo, and me will watch romantic movies.
Whatever we wear, we’ll stand out and have clout.
I’ll be the hit of the block in my Fall 2020 frocks!
