To prevent any contamination and snow from getting inside the pool, it's advisable to use a winter cover. However, for the cover to perform its function adequately, it requires proper care throughout the winter.

In some regions - especially those where winter brings heavy snowfall - pool owners should take care of the pool and shovel the snow regularly…

It’s good to know also that to protect the walls of the pool from expanding ice, we recommend throwing empty plastic bottles into the pool to prevent the walls of the wooden structure from stressing. This is a trick often used during the winter closure.

When removing snow, start by clearing the snow layer from the cover's surface. You can do this with a broom with a telescopic pole or a special snow shovel with soft points. However, remember to avoid sharp tools and to remove the snow gently so as not to damage the cover material.

In the case of small snowfalls, a leaf blower is ideal for the function of a snow blower, which can clear the pool cover of snow very quickly and effortlessly. Another method is to simply remove away the snow with a broom.

And how dealing with ice on the surface of the winter cover? You can use lukewarm water, which will help dissolve the frozen residue, or with someone's help, simply try to slide the ice sheets off the cover. Remember to do it carefully! It is very important to prevent the formation of ice sheets under the surface of the snow on the cover because a heavy ice sheet can also form sharp edges which can cut the pool cover over time.

At the same time, let's remember about safety. That's why when shoveling snow, you should have appropriate warm clothing and footwear that will prevent you from slipping on the slippery surface.

During harsh winters, regular inspection of the condition of the cover and removal of accumulated snow and ice, especially if it is large and heavy, will certainly help avoid any damage. Irregular snow removal of the pool becomes much more time-consuming and labor-intensive by the end. Therefore, clearing snow from the pool regularly is my recommendation.
