Poool will be supported by Google to develop its dynamic paywall into AMP ecosystem
Google relase Round 3 DNI Innovation Fund results, which goal is to support and stimulate innovation in digital news journalism. And we can proudly says that Poool will be supported by Google to develop it's dynamic paywall into AMP ecosystem in the next few weeks. Our goal is to create sustainable compensation choices and long term relationship with readers within AMP pages.
Few month ago, we have developed a unique and innovative SaaS platform that helps publishers to create and test compensation choices for consumers in order to access content they love. To develop our product we meet many publishers in France, and even in Europe to discuss about engagement, monetization et ARPU. It helped us create a product and give us the opportunity to see growing adoption of google AMP in only few months.
Premium AMP content is the future
AMP adoption is growing fast. More than half of the major media publishers in Europe are using it and it’s having a great impact on all their traffic metrics.
However, AMP only partially answers the monetization needs of publishers. Focused for now on the development of compatible ad-formats delivering better CPM and CTR rates, AMP only provides rudimentary options for paid content and paywall strategies.
This could prove to be a hurdle for many publishers as premium content seems to be the only path towards financial sustainability for many of them.
Indeed, while programmatic sales and an ever growing inventory are bringing down advertising revenues, paywall strategies are on the rise.
However classic binary paywalls often don’t work, and offer bad user experience :
1. they offer a standard answer regardless of the user’s profile: subscribe or leave
2. They use cross-browsers or cross technologies badly
3. They’re expensive to set-up and inaccessible for most small and mid-range publishers
That’s why, when faced with a paywall, big part of readers are said to leave immediately. Our project aims to solve that, and help AMP go further towards fulfilling its promise of bringing down bounce rates and creating seamless internet experiences.
AMPoool is coming
Our aim is to answer that problem with AMPoool, the first dynamic SaaS paywall service.
Affordable for all, our paywall service will allow publishers to create frictionless experiences of premium content within the AMP ecosystem. By enabling publishers to build tailored scenarios based on their readers’ behaviour, AMPoool will help publishers to optimize their audience’s experience and increase their ARPU. Publishers will be able to use the tools we added in the last version of Poool, such as A/B testing, user segmentation, multiple options available to access content and lots of others cool stuffs (lien vers l'article)
Our main goal is to decrease the difficulty for an editor to publish premium content with AMP if his strategy does not fit AMP-ACCESS possibilities. With AMPOOOL, they will be able to customize users’ engagement journeys, without being too bothered by the technical implementation of a new paywall. For example, they could switch from freemium to metered within minutes.
We ultimately want to expand the use of AMP and offer new customized ways for publishers to engage users who are poorly addressed or not addressed at all in the existing news ecosystem.
We will be testing AMPoool with our first partners in the beggining of 2018, and then open it to all publishers. So if you are interested don't hesitate to reach us :)
