The power of childlike wisdom! Lessons for all HR Leaders on Children's Day🧒
#DBVisions
We all get so engaged in our daily grind that we tend to ignore the small joys and learnings of life. This morning as I saw a few children gearing up for celebrating their special day, I was instantly reminded of the power of play and empathy. Children exhibit numerous leadership traits that we can use to enhance our leadership practices.
So, today on Children’s Day, I bring to you my top 5 learnings from beautiful kids around us that can make our approach more impactful:
1. Encourage more ‘WHY’s’❓
Yes, curiosity drives innovation and children ask ‘why’ so many times to understand things better. As an HR Leader, be ready to support your employees with their queries and ideas. It will help in driving innovation. Focus on brainstorming, encourage exploring new processes, and support experimentation.
2. Playfulness fuels creativity🎨
Children solve so many of their problems during their playtime. They find ways to explore and express themselves while playing. HR Leaders are expected to encourage elements of play to encourage creative thinking and team-building. A lot of issues can be solved when employees have fun while working together.

3. Honesty is the best policy!😇
Have you noticed how children are brutally honest and don’t care about filtering out their feelings or thoughts? Well, this can be awkward at times, but the lesson here is to foster a transparent work environment where both positive and constructive feedback flows throughout the levels of any organization.
4. Keep things clear and simple🖹
Children are at their best when they get clear and simple instructions from anyone to do a certain task. Therefore, dear HR Leaders do not overcomplicate your instructions or expectations leaving others confused. Ensure that you devise easy-to-understand statements, policies, and procedures. Check-in regularly if all employees are on the same page or if there is anything that needs further clarification!
5. Fun is imperative for productivity😜
Enjoying every single activity, they perform fills children with enthusiasm and joy. They remind us that work has to be seen and done as a hassle-free job and not as some daily chore. A supportive and fun-filled work environment guarantees an engaged and productive workforce.
Finally, I wish all the beautiful children a very happy children's day, and may we all adults never lose touch with the childlike wonder that makes us all incredible leaders!
