The Power of Influence - YOU INSPIRE ME

The Power of Influence - YOU INSPIRE ME

Meaning of role model in the English dictionary: ‘a person who someone admires and whose behaviour they try to copy’

Even though my aviation journey has changed a lot to when I was first learning to fly, I still admire and look up to others for inspiration, I still seek to learn from those I consider my role models, my mentors.   I will never know enough; I will always need to learn something!

Achieving personal growth is why the power of influence is so important for us as individuals, the power of influence is what inspires us, what supports us and what helps drive us to achieve.

I am constantly inspired by the impact role models can have on people’s lives. We often think of role models as famous names, celebrities, athletes, leaders in their prospective fields. But in reality, anyone can be a role model, throughout our lives, each and every one of us has probably been a role model without even knowing it.

Any person who has a positive impact on our daily lives can be role models, these could be a teacher, co-worker, family members. They don’t have to be famous or household names, they just need to set an example and inspire us to believe in ourselves.

When I meet aspiring pilots, I am always striving to make a positive impact on them with what I say or how I comment or speak about aviation and being a female in the industry. It is so important to share life experiences, the many wonderful snippets of advice that has been shared with me along my journey.   I also volunteer as a mentor with Women in Aviation to help others navigate the sometimes-confusing aviation pathways, and I am especially passionate about helping women in the industry as I found it very challenging when I started out with very few female role models to look up to or connect with during my journey.

On a daily basis, you really never know who you are inspiring, who is watching and who is admiring what you are achieving. It is so important for us to lead by example, to strive to do our best at all times and to remember to have humility in your achievements. Humility is one of the most powerful and important attributes of personal growth!

My role models inspire me, they support and encourage me, and I am in constant awe of their ability to continue to help me grow as a pilot and a person. They help me to focus on my growth, my goals and my life achievements.
