Power Of The Subconscious Mind In Business

I've been running a series of Saturday webinars about 'The Psychology Needed To Be An Entrepreneur.'

And they've got me thinking about the differences between - being a "Human Being" and a "Business Being." ...Are they the same thing??


We are emotional creatures, whether we are in business or not. So our basic instincts for pleasure, routine, and avoiding being eaten by a sabre tooth tiger ....invisibly impacts logical thought.


A New Self-Assessment

I've been working on a new assessment to use during my consultations. The aim is to help clients re-evaluate where they are on their personal scale of 'emotional action versus logical action'.

If you are just a teeny weeny bit curious...

...then the following 20 questions are a great starting point to re-evaluate four key areas that might matter to you - Profitability, Pleasure, Passion & Inner Peace.


Emotional Action versus Logical Action Assessment

Give yourself one point for each "Yes" answer. Then find out what your score means at the end.

Thought Patterns Self-Evaluation:

  1. Do you have recurring negative or limiting thoughts about your business?
  2. When faced with a challenge, is the first thought that comes to your mind usually negative?
  3. Do you often doubt your abilities or decisions?
  4. Do you assume that there are limits to your potential for success?
  5. Do your thoughts often conflict with your business goals?


Emotional Patterns Self-Evaluation:

  1. Do you frequently feel negative emotions when thinking about your business?
  2. Do you react emotionally to setbacks or failures in your business?
  3. Are there specific business situations that trigger strong emotional responses in you?
  4. Do you feel anxious or fearful when thinking about achieving your business goals?
  5. Are there underlying fears or anxieties that you believe influence your emotions about your business?


Physical Symptom Self-Evaluation:

  1. Do you experience physical discomfort or symptoms when dealing with business-related stress?
  2. Does your body react noticeably to prolonged periods of work or stress in your business?
  3. Do you feel unusually tired or fatigued related to your business activities?
  4. Have you noticed changes in your appetite or sleep patterns during stressful business periods?
  5. Do you frequently experience headaches, muscle tension, or other physical symptoms while working on your business?


Action & Behaviour Patterns Self-Evaluation:

  1. Do you follow habits or routines that might be hindering your business progress?
  2. Do you often procrastinate or avoid important business tasks?
  3. Do you sabotage your own efforts or undermine your business goals?
  4. Are you inconsistent in taking actions that align with your business objectives?
  5. Do you take specific actions when feeling overwhelmed or stressed about your business that are counterproductive?

SCORING YOUR SELF EVALUATION:

Look at each of the four categories in turn. Count the number of "Yes" answers in that particular category.

Rate yourself using the following results. It will help you to Identify which of the four areas may need attention:

0-1 Yes's : You are likely handling this area well.

2-3 Yes's : There may be some subconscious factors impacting your business; consider exploring these further.

4-5 Yes's : This area is significantly affecting your business; addressing these issues could lead to substantial improvements.

Are you a 'Human Being' or a 'Business Being' (or a combination of both)?

When you understand how the Subconscious Mind impacts business behaviour and decision making, it changes the way you work. Because I truly believe it's the key to hitting your ultimate human goal of more : Profitability, Pleasure Passion and Peace.
