✍️ Preparation is Greater than Luck: My Hard-Learned Career Lesson

✍️ Preparation is Greater than Luck: My Hard-Learned Career Lesson

A few years ago, I walked into what seemed like a golden opportunity—a job interview that matched my dream role. I had the qualifications. I had the experience. But I lacked preparation.

When the tough questions came, I froze. My achievements were there, but I couldn’t connect them to the company’s needs. I walked out knowing I’d blown it.

Since that day, I’ve learned this hard truth: opportunity rewards the prepared, not the lucky.

🔵 Two People. One Lesson.

A few weeks ago, two of my clients lost their jobs.

  • Client 1 was devastated. He spiraled into self-pity, scrolling social media and replaying the loss.
  • Client 2 felt the pain but got to work. She revamped her CV, updated her LinkedIn profile, and started preparing for interviews with my help.

Today, she’s already in the second round of interviews. The other? Still waiting for luck to rescue him.

🔵 Why Career Growth Demands Preparation

Here’s the truth: ✔️ The job market is unforgiving. ✔️ Average efforts will keep you stuck. ✔️ Excuses won’t land you your next role.

Ask yourself:

  • Is your CV ready for the opportunities you’re dreaming of?
  • Does your LinkedIn profile scream value or mediocrity?
  • When was the last time you prepared for success, not just hoped for it?

🔵 The Time to Act Is Now

Nobody wins a war without preparation. And nobody climbs the career ladder by hoping for the best. The question is: 💡 Will you prepare to succeed, or will you wait for luck that never comes?

Your future depends on what you do today. Let’s make 2025 your year.

Very true. To paraphrase this "preparation" is planning. Failure to plan is planning to fail. Thinking through will save you a lot. Experience shows.
