President-Elect Trump’s Vision for a Federal Framework in Autonomous Vehicle Safety

President-elect Trump's administration is signaling a significant shift in autonomous vehicle regulation, with plans to prioritize a federal framework for self-driving cars. This move could reshape the landscape for companies developing autonomous technologies and accelerate the adoption of driverless vehicles in the United States.

The proposed federal framework aims to provide regulatory certainty, potentially leading to increased investments in autonomy and a clearer path to commercialization for vehicles without traditional controls. Currently, companies are restricted to deploying only 2,500 autonomous vehicles per year without manual controls under a granted exemption.
