Press Release: Partners Interpreting’s Summit Sponsorship

Partners Interpreting’s Summit Sponsorship Spotlights Need for Healthcare Organizations to Improve Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals’ Experiences and Continuum of Care 2022 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experiences in Healthcare Summit to be held on October 21, 2022

Buffalo Grove, Illinois, October 17, 2022 – 2axend is pleased to announce Partners Interpreting as one of its Ascending Sponsors for the 2022 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experiences in Healthcare Summit taking place on October 21, 2022.

Organized on the theme, “Optimizing the Patient Experience,” this one-day virtual summit is designed to provide healthcare professionals and administrators with tools, strategies and best practices to improve language and communication access, drive systemic change, and, ultimately, improve the patient experience.

The summit will feature a series of workshops and panel discussion, all with the emphasis on providing signing and non-signing Deaf and hard of hearing individuals with patient-centered care and experiences in healthcare settings.

Our outstanding line-up of presenters includes Andrés J. Gallegos, Esq., a shareholder at Robbins DiMonte, Ltd. and the current Chairman of the National Council on Disability; Dr. Christopher Moreland, an internal medicine physician and associate residency director at Dell Medical School at UT Austin and past president of Association of Medical Professionals with Hearing Losses; Dr. Erica Dwyer, an instructor in medicine at Harvard Medical School and a hospitalist at Cambridge Health Alliance; and Shawn Norris, Coordinator of Interpreting Services, Section 1557 and ADA Coordinator, and ASL Interpreter at Flagler Health+.

With their sponsorship, Partners Interpreting helps spotlight the need for healthcare organizations to employ strategies and initiatives designed to reduce the significant healthcare disparities and inequities Deaf and hard of hearing individuals encounter in healthcare settings. This is of utmost importance as Deaf and hard of hearing individuals regularly encounter disparate experiences in healthcare settings, including not having access to effective communication in healthcare settings and working with providers who do not understand how to deliver culturally sensitive and responsive services to this population.

In a joint message, T.J. DiGrazia, Partners Interpreting’s Director of Captioning Services, shared, “We're thrilled to be sponsoring and providing communication access for this year's summit. It's going to be an amazing day of learning and sharing of ideas.”

Regarding Partners Interpreting’s sponsorship, Corey Axelrod, founder and CEO of 2axend, added, “I am thrilled to partner with Partners Interpreting for the inaugural Deaf and Hard of Hearing Experiences in Healthcare Summit. Their partnership and support will only help us move the needle forward in positioning healthcare organizations to provide Deaf and hard of hearing community members with improved patient experiences and continuum of care.”
