PRME Favorites: Arts in Management Education

PRME Favorites: Arts in Management Education

Curated by: Divya Singhal , Professor of Management; Chairperson, Center for Social Sensitivity & Action, Goa Institute of Management

There is an increasing discussion around arts and arts-based methods in management education. I am delighted to share with you that I have been invited by the PRME Secretariat to identify what I think are the ten best texts/articles and/or examples of bringing arts into management education for our students to engage with the SDGs. First, I thought, as SDGs came into existence in 2015, let me focus on the articles/examples post-2015; then I realized that the intent of this list is broader. I see this curated list may serve multiple purposes for our PRME community; (i), it can provide the community with a new perspective to break the functional silos, (ii) use arts and arts-based methods in management education to sensitize students about ground realities and become responsible leaders; (iii), it can also offer faculty with examples of various art-based pedagogical integrations that could inspire them to implement in their context.

The list below is not exhaustive. There could be other examples/articles that I am unaware of. Nevertheless, I am happy to invite you to share a few more resources that you think could contribute to the list and for PRME’s wider dissemination.
