Progress Check-In: How Are You Doing?
Hello Friend,
At the start of this year, we were all pumped up and ready to achieve our goals. Quick check-in, how is that going? I can totally understand some challenges you might be experiencing in achieving your set goals. Trust me, you are not alone.
The current economic climate can be discouraging, with inflation, uncertainties and job insecurity creating an environment that may hinder progress towards personal goals. But Kendor, this is not the time to give up. Although it can be especially demotivating when faced with economic hardships, in times like these, resilience is a key factor in achieving your goals.
Even in the face of adversity, people are demonstrating resilience and finding ways to make progress.
Here are practical steps that you can take to build resilience and still achieve your goals:
1. Reevaluate and Prioritize Goals: Take a critical look at your goals and reassess their feasibility in the current economic landscape. Prioritize goals based on their importance and relevance, focusing on those that contribute most significantly to your long-term well-being and happiness.
2. Adaptability and Flexibility: Embrace flexibility in your approach to goal achievement. Be open to adjusting timelines, methods or even the goals themselves in response to changing circumstances. This adaptability is crucial for navigating the uncertainties of the economy.
3. Create a Realistic Action Plan: Break down your goals into smaller, more manageable tasks. This not only makes them less overwhelming but also allows for a more granular approach, making it easier to stay consistent even in challenging times.
4. Build a Support System: Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family or mentors. Sharing your goals and challenges with others not only provides emotional support but also invites constructive feedback and fresh perspectives.
5. Focus on Personal Development: Use challenging times as an opportunity for personal growth and skill development by investing in yourself. Explore cost-effective personal development with short online courses, workshops and webinars. Connect with like-minded individuals through networking and online communities. Acquiring new skills or improving existing ones, can enhance your resilience and adaptability.
In the face of economic challenges, individuals can make progress toward their planned goals for the year by adopting a proactive and adaptable mindset. While consistency may be difficult, a strategic approach, realistic planning and a supportive network can contribute to success.
Around the World of HR
Walmart Stocks Spill
Walmart is no stranger to implementing various adjustments in total rewards for its workforce over the past years, making alterations to employee compensation and expanding benefits.
Recently, Walmart announced its latest modification - a division of its outstanding common stock shares at a 3:1 ratio, aimed at enhancing affordability for employees. Walmart clarified that this stock split is a component of the company’s ongoing assessment of "optimal trading and spread levels" and a commitment to ensuring that associates find purchasing shares easily attainable.
Currently, over 400,000 employees actively participate in Walmart's Associate Stock Purchase Plan, enabling eligible associates to acquire stock through payroll deductions with a 15 percent company match on the initial $1,800 annually.
The strategic move is anticipated to positively impact Walmart's employee retention and attraction efforts while simultaneously broadening the company's investor base.
The stock splits are part of the company’s focus on a robust total rewards package with continued investments in compensation, attractive healthcare, financial and educational benefits.
This will take effect after the market closes on Friday, February 23, for those who are shareholders of record at the close of business on Thursday, February 22. This is Walmart’s first stock split since 1999.

One notable insight from the book is the difference between normal performance and top performance. For some people, there’s a big gap between the two. For others, top performance is quite similar to their normal performance.
