Prospecting On Social Media
I gained 20,000 relevant connections in ten months, and meet many outstanding people who inspire me!

Prospecting On Social Media

(1 min 30 sec reading time) As a sales professional, my job is to sell my company's product and close the deal. Period. But we know it is so more than that -- the best deals are with companies aligned with our values, our mission, with a shared purpose to improve lives.

So, how can you use social media to find new partners in crime?

If you are an entrepreneur or in sales like me, a part of our day is to find new customers. Many of us find ourselves on LinkedIn to sniff around and see what we can see. We seek clues to discover an excellent lead while implementing an approach to reach out and eventually book a meeting.

I call this process, "Search & Destroy." It is a numbers game while being smart and savvy because time is money, honey. We must be quick and targeted. Once you find someone interesting, the million-dollar question now becomes, "How on earth do I get this person to reply to me when I reach out?"

We all continuously experience one horrible method: direct messages telling us all about their company, what they offer, and asking us to meet. This week! Ugh. They are annoying because they are intrusive and transactional. And I fully admit to doing that once, due to complete naivety. What a mistake! It backfired on me with a nasty reply, so I learned that getting the right client requires respect, time, and patience.

LinkedIn a never-ending networking global PARTY! Most of the virtual guests are intelligent and high-driven. My kind of peeps. But, equivalent to knowing how to effectively "work a crowd" while remaining genuine, you can learn how to "work it on LinkedIn."

We come here to connect with like-minded professionals who become friends via comments on posts. Or you begin to message each other while you were seeking connections. The most important thing to remember: we connect with our human hearts.

Then, you connect with your wits. And the next thing you know, your pals become your best prospects. Who transforms into, hopefully, your BEST business partners. They become friends because of the time and patience you spent building trust, and they trust you. Therefore, as we all know, PEOPLE make the world go around, not money.

👇🏼 So, do you meet outstanding professionals on LinkedIn?

Nice article Angie Gallagher 😀 It’s an old cliche, but in the end - other things being equal - we buy from people we like. Sell yourself first, then you have a chance to sell your product or service .
