Angie, how did your radio publicity help you further your book marketing strategy?

The the radio interviews not only expanded my marketing reach but they really helped in adding credibility to my book. Radio was an added tool in my marketing arsenal. For example, when you are reaching out to bookstore owners especially as an author and you are trying to set up signings and events, it really adds that credibility when you can say “hey here’s where I have been heard - here is where I have been featured." These are nationally syndicated radio shows that have credibility and this really gets you the attention that you need. The stores want to set up your book signings. They want to set up events in their stores because it drives more business.

Why did you choose radio as a book marketing strategy and Annie Jennings PR for your publicity?

I was really looking for the medium that would cast the widest net to reach an audience outside of the web. In doing my research I have found that radio is still the most effective reach you can get for your publicity.

Most of my radio interviews were live shows and they were happening at times when people were listening - when they were an engaged audience. A captive audience, if you will.

That was the first decision that went into it. I looked at both radio and TV. From an economic standpoint and marketing reach standpoint. Radio just made the most sense.

Angie says "trust is the #1 factor in making the decision to go with Annie Jennings PR for book publicity."

Unfortunately as an author and for those kicking the tires on the book marketing world, I will tell you there is no shortage of organizations out there who prey on authors. They try to capitalize on the dreams of authors. These other PR and book marketing firms realize that you are so excited to get your voice out there, to get your book out there, to be in front of people and they just prey on that. Other firms make a lot of promises without the guarantee of delivering.

For me, Annie Jennings PR had a performance guaranteethat they were going to get the right audience, the right show for me and they did deliver on that. Every deliverable was met and was exceeded.

Angie, what was it like working with Annie’s radio interview publicity team?

Hands down, the most zero stress in marketing I have ever dealt with period.Seriously, Annie Jennings PR’s radio booking team worked with me to schedule the interviews, they kept me in the loop, they did everything as far hand-holding can go without me asking. And to be honest with you, I did not expect.

It was refreshing.

How did the unlimited media training – which is included in your publicity campaign – enhance your experience?

I was so worried because if you have never been on the radio it’s a curve ball. You have a lot of concerns. Am I going to say the right thing? I want to make sure that I get my message out right. Am I talking about my book enough or mentioning it?

Jason, Annie’s on-staff, former award-winning news producer, is the media trainer. Jason not only helped boost my confidencebut he gave me everything that I needed to go on these radio interviews totally prepared to get my book out there and market it.

Our authors love the support our booking team provides every step of the way – did you feel the same?

Absolutely, there really is no better boost to your confidence than working with Jason on the media training and working Stacy, Annie’s Radio Director, to make sure everything was perfect. You were my biggest cheerleaders.I knew when calls were going to happen. You worked with the schedule I already had, that is, if I had a book signing or had to run the kids to school, it was no problem.

You made sure everything was in place. I knew exactly when I was going to call in. We never ever missed a deadline. Everything was perfect!

Annie Jennings PR is a well-oiled publicity machine.

Again, Jason was my biggest cheerleader. Before I got on the radio calls I was already pumped.I knew what I was going to say. I sounded natural. I have never had media trainer before. I did not know what to expect. It was amazing!

Angie, what would you tell other authors who are thinking about working with Annie Jennings PR?

A lot of people are going to have some apprehension. I would say to do your research. Make sure that you are working with a firm like Annie Jennings PR that offers a performance guarantee. You will find that many of the marketing companies will not be able to put that down on paper. They will not be able to guarantee anything for you.

That fact that Annie Jennings PR can do that, wow! To my knowledge Anne Jennings is the only PR agency that I researched that could put that guarantee on paper and I can tell you personally, they did deliver.

But make sure you do your own research. Look around. You will find that other agencies can’t offer any guarantees.

The nice thing about Annie Jennings PR, I just want to say, is that you guys are not trying to be the ‘be all and end all,' saying “oh we can get you here, oh we can get you there." They specialize in radio. That is their expertise and they stick to that, they deliver on that.

Radio is what Annie Jennings PR does very very well.
