Who Is Black Girl Ventures
Founded in 2016 by Serial Entrepreneur and Computer Scientist Omi Bell, this organization is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges that underrepresented women founders face in accessing social and financial capital to grow their businesses.
Their innovative pitch competition is the largest globally for underrepresented women founders, combining the elements of Shark Tank and Kickstarter by engaging community participation in donating to support women-owned businesses directly.
To date, they have funded over 450 women of color, conducted over 50 BGV Pitch Programs across 15 cities, and served more than 10,000 founders. Their pitch alumni collectively generate over $10 million in revenue and support more than 3,000 jobs. With four signature programs—BGV Pitch, BGV NextGen, BGV Emerging Leaders Fellowship, and BGV Pull Up & Pitch—they have become the largest ecosystem builder for underrepresented women founders on the East Coast.
