Purpose Inspired #27
PICTURE OF THE WEEK - #GREENMAN
POST OF THE WEEK - #CONFLICT
Conflict – whether between people, nations or religions – is always the failure to see through the eyes of the other. When our own sense of integrity, self-worth or identity is challenged, we react, either defensively or aggressively. It’s always the fault of the other: they provoked us, they accused us, they insulted us, they attacked us. As the warrior rises within us, we fuel the fire of righteous indignation, of perceived injustice, of emotional pain. We are self-absorbed, unable to step into the other’s shoes, to hear their voice, to feel their pain. The first step beyond conflict is humility.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK - #CONSCIENCE
“Necessity, rather than an unexpected attack on conscience, will drive the transition to a net zero economy”
Quote from Sustainable Frontiers (book) | Quotes on social responsibility | Quotes on sustainable business | Quotes on transformational change
PODCAST OF THE WEEK - #VISION
Shapeshifting seldom happens in countries or companies without visionary leadership. Like the revolutionary philosophers and scientists of centuries past, somebody has to be able to step outside of the parochial present and see the bigger picture of the future. And like those historical reformists, today’s innovative leaders walk a tightrope between being recognised and celebrated as a visionaries and being regarded as crackpots to be locked up or heathens to be burned at the stake.
POEM OF THE WEEK - #FLEETING
I’m writing these words / Without too much to say / Except that I’m thinking / Of you on this day
Our words are so fleeting / Like birds in the sky / They often say what / And seldom say why
I’m writing these symbols / Without riddle or code / Except that life’s cipher / Unlocks love on the road
Our letters are bottles / That float on the sea / They reach distant shores / And set their words free
I’m writing this letter / Without reason or rhyme / Except that our bonding / Transcends space and time

PRE-ORDER "THRIVING" (NEW BOOK)
Fritjof Capra, author of The Hidden Connections and coauthor of The Systems View of Life offers the following reflection on "Thriving" (my new book): A key insight of the theory of living systems is the realisation that life, at all levels, is inherently regenerative. In this book the author explores the social, economic, and political implications of this insight, which are critical to overcoming our multi-faceted crisis.
