Pushing me out of my comfort zone

This weekend, I was honoured to be asked to be a keynote speaker at the 6th Annual Data Science Festival in London.

Having spent weeks worrying about what I could say to 600 data scientists/PhD's/Dr's, I am pleased to say that I came out victorious!

Rather than spending an hour talking about Python, Spark or JSON Scripts (not my specialism!), I told the story of how Future Anthem used Data Science (and Databricks) to not only become a multi-award-winning market leader in under three years but more importantly, how we created a brand new industry category i.e. Game Data Science.

I spoke about how we've ingested over 60 Billion player transactions into our platform (Amplifier AI) and told the story of how we quickly discovered that we'd created a power far greater than we had ever imagined. I talked about how our capabilities had gone from a single outcome focus to a suite of outcomes that now powers a number of the industry's biggest and best online gambling companies.

I'd like to thank our partner Databricks for this amazing opportunity to tell our story and for pushing me out of my comfort zone. Also, thanks to my colleagues for supporting me including Dr Edmond Mitchell, Jake Chody, Leigh Nissim and Christopher Conroy.
