Putting the "U" in UGC

Putting the "U" in UGC

The prospect of creating your own video content can be quite daunting—especially for those who have never had the opportunity to peak behind the curtain into the world of movie magic. As with any unfamiliar thing, there is a learning curve to producing user generated content. However, gathering high quality footage/content for communication videos is much simpler than it seems.

Why NOW is the time for your business to adopt UGC for internal communications:

Who better to create engaging, authentic content that captures the culture of a company than those on the inside? UGC is personal: a means of colleague-to-colleague communication. Producing videos internally will not sacrifice a modern, polished “film look.” Rather, content captured in this style is more cost-effective and often yields the best final product for your company’s internal comms needs.

How to introduce UGC into your workplace:

The technology is already at your fingertips. Smartphone applications and social media sites such as FiLMiC Pro and Workplace, respectively, grant any willing communications professionals the opportunity to make that movie magic happen.

After working alongside industry professionals at private bank Coutts & Company to implement UGC into their communications infrastructure, we here at Feedback Films have developed a straightforward approach to teaching UGC production.

Anyone with a camera—even just on a smartphone—can learn to create high quality content. The only prerequisite is knowing what good content looks like. Giving individuals the opportunity to simply try, to go off on their own and familiarize themselves with the technology, successfully increases excitement around what it actually means to film your own footage. After getting acquainted with and comfortable in front of a camera, even if it’s just through a selfie lens, people quickly realize the world of possibilities that lies within UGC. With the help of a tripod and external microphone, any smartphone can be transformed into high-tech videography equipment.
