A question to bring to the table

A question to bring to the table

This week's question falls on Christmas day - and what better way to enrich the moment for everyone gathered on the table than to start the conversation with this curly question.

Just twist the question to suit among friends, colleagues or any group.

Enjoy the trip down memory lane!

A change is as good as a holiday (or so they say)

If you are one of the many who are hanging out for the holidays to arrive, you might feel like it's a case of ‘too much change, not enough holiday’. 😶

I've recently taken the saying to a new level, by having both a change AND a holiday. At the end of November I moved with my family to Denmark, 🛬 where we’ll be living, holidaying and working until the end of February.

'm not a Dane and I don't speak Danish. I remain constantly grateful that many people in the Danish shops are able to switch to English in an instant and help me to navigate the unfamiliar environment. One of the things I've noticed since moving here is how quickly I find myself feeling out of my depth in what would usually be ‘standard’ situations. 😨 For example, yesterday I went to buy a jar of blackberry jam. A process that would usually take me two minutes ended up taking me ten. And, when I arrived home, the jam was actually made from blueberries not blackberries.

In complex and unfamiliar circumstances we have to switch off auto-pilot. It requires more thought, navigation and energy. It's something that I reckon a lot of leaders and teams can relate to as 2023 comes to a close.  The holidays offer a chance to rest, reflect and re-set in readiness for 2024. ⛱

While I am in Denmark, I intend to be doing a lot of all three by asking myself the kind of Curly Questions that I often ask my clients. These types of questions are designed to take us out of the known and help us think outside the box.

Some of the questions I'll be kicking around include:

❓- How can I have even more impact?

❓- How can I create more value for my clients?

❓- Is the big picture for my business still the same?

❓- What impact do I want to have in the coming years?

❓- What’s really important and what isn't?

Curly questions are best considered together.💡

So, if you've got some Curly Questions of your own and you'll be in Denmark, the UK or other parts of Europe from mid-Jan, let's catch up and kick our questions around together.📨 Drop me a DM, email (kate@katechristiansen.com.au) or comment below.
