Sometimes, I would just like to lock myself in a padded room for a couple of days. For most of my life and career, I’ve been an entrepreneur and, for the last 17 years, a Master Business Coach. And it seems like not a day, week, month, or year goes by that I hear the same questions over and over again that just tend to baffle me. Most have simple solutions, but we sometimes get ourselves into a state of negativity, survival, or fear of stupidity.
So, I would like to share some of these questions that baffle me.
- I’ve always wondered why psychics ask you your name? I have no answer for that one.
- Why aren’t I more successful? Over the years, the answer is that this person has no goals or vision for their life. Most never had and more never learned how to set goals.
- Why do I work so many hours, year after year? This question usually indicates that you have a problem with time prioritization—not time management, but time prioritization. Time management is trying to do everything that you think you need to do. Time Prioritization is learning to prioritize your tasks so that you only do the most important tasks with the highest consequences if not done. I can help you with this. I teach a system that, if applied exactly, will double your productivity in 24 hours. Guaranteed.
- Why don’t I make more money? The simple answer is usually because you’re probably not working. You’re just expecting to be compensated. You’re only working where you’re working to pick up a paycheck. There is an international loss of work ethics. No one wants to work and focus on that work. If you have a strong work ethic, the world, as they say, is your oyster. Recruiters have told me they craft interview questions to determine if an interviewee has an inherent work ethic.
- I’ve never taken a vacation. Why is that? In every case that I’ve heard, the cause is a fear that someone might take your job while you’re gone, Or, if you’re a business owner, your place will fall apart if you take any time off. This is usually a cause of immense lack of trust in your team, or the false sense that you’re that important to the operation. In that case, you haven’t done your job as a leader and built your team. Nonetheless, this statement is common, and I can help you take that vacation.
And when I have nothing else to worry about, I sometimes wonder…
- How did the person who invented the calendar know what day it was? I have no answer for that one either, but I hope you get the picture.
