A quick introduction to the focus areas of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2020

A quick introduction to the focus areas of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2020

On January 1st, 2020 Croatia takes over the rotating helm of the Council of the European Union Presidency. The agenda is exceptionally ambitious – 1,560 announced meetings in Zagreb and Brussels, several high-level European leaders’ meetings, 30 high-level conferences and 12 informal meetings.

The Croatian Presidency comes at a challenging time for Europe both in a political and a policy sense. A new Commission, Brexit, the MFF, new digital policies, the green agenda and circular economy, all mean that being present in Zagreb is crucial for companies, small businesses and associations.

Croatian Presidency political intelligence and visibility, at the start of the new European political mandate, is where EuroNavigator stands out.

Croatia’s Council Presidency is a pivotal opportunity for companies to engage with EU and member state decision makers, especially when it comes to closing legislative files of the Juncker Commission and giving visibility to files worth examining during the von der Leyen Commission.

The Croatian Presidency comes at the beginning of a new five-year EU institutional cycle following the May European elections: with new leaders of the European institutions – the new composition of the European Commission and the European Parliament and a new President of the European Council; with new policy topics and policy proposals in line with the strategic framework for the period 2019-2024, with the conclusion of the negotiations on a new seven-year European budget for the period 2021-2027, the completion of which will be an important task of the Croatian Presidency and the expected finalization of Brexit.

In these dynamic times for Europe, #EU2020HR represents a pivotal chance for you to act while it matters. Having a presence at select informal and formal meetings during the Croatian presidency will enable your company to position itself for the long run. Now is the time to push for your presence and visibility at select meetings or organize a private event on the side-lines.
