Quotient of Success

Success in dictionary terms defined as achievement of something desired, intended or endeavoured.  

Anyone in today’s world can easily associate success with achievement of utmost dream a person can have in-terms of financial fortune, having iconic figure in society comparing others.  

Anyone who has huge sums of money, thing of desire, power to get things done, expensive house & cars could be termed as successful.  

At the same time people who have inadequacy of above could be called unsuccessful people, since they couldn’t fulfil the criteria of being successful person.  

The question is, whether there is any yardstick which can measure success and earmark people as success or failure?  

Let’s take a look at our planet earth.

There are billions of different living organism who survive on planet earth.

How could we delineate successful or failure ones. I believe even our whole life will not be sufficient to study all the living species on earth, forget about classifying them failure or success.  

Whether we take example of forest or mountain or sea is comprises of (several trees/animals), (smaller peaks standing together) or (several water bodies beneath) sustaining different form of life.  

Let’s take an exercise to extricate the efficacious tree between OAK, PINE and BANYAN and remove the one which are not prosperous from the forest. Should we call it a forest then or something else?  

Similarly let figure out the worthwhile amid LION/ELEPHANT/DEAR and other animals. Once we are done, let’s exterminate the inferiors’ ones, should we call them as animal then or something else?  

Or discover the prolific one among WHALE/SHARK/TUNA. Shall we not have sea filled with Sharks or Whale only?  

Similarly humans, shall retain the prosperous ones and confiscate failed ones. Can we not have earth bursting with only endowed people?  

I am sure, by this time, every one of you have agreed that undoubtedly I am a wrathful person and above doesn’t make any sense.  

I know you would say, that if we have only Banyan or Oak in forest, then the mere existence of the forest itself would be vanished. A forest need several verities of plants/trees to be grown together in such fashion that it brings enrichment to forest or to be true attainment of higher status to be called as forest.

Each tree inside the forest holds equal significance in comparison to any other tree like Banyan or Oak.  

If the above could be best implicit without too much of in-depth insight then how come the same becomes so problematic to understand when it comes about us the people or human race?

Who has the yardstick and to measure what?  

We all love cricket and proud of our Indian team, won 3 world cups so far. However many time we lost even against the most weak team. We all know Tendulkar being the best player we have in our team, but can we win the game removing the rest 10 players?

That’s because cricket is a game which need 11 player to play in togetherness. The value of each individuals comes to further limelight when the same player plays from different team under IPL and reflects higher worthwhile.  

In Olympic Games, every country sends their best player to participate with single ambition to win medal for their country. However only one wins the game and others lose. Even the one who lose winning the medal, still remains the best their nation can have. S/he still remains the best among millions/billions.  

I am sure, everyone who is reading s/he would have different meaning of success and individual may or may not agree with my views.  

However to me, if you can’t see smile on your children face once you return home, irrespective you have pile of money, you are not successful, rather if there is smile on your child face, get you a warm hug, you have attainment of higher substance, i.e. meaning of life.  

Having bigger house, doesn’t make you successful, if you can’t have good sleep. Because to have good sleep, you probably just need a simple bed with relax mind, honest heart and fearless soul.  

Till the time, you have enough money to buy thing of value in life, you can’t be failure.  

Each individual on this planet earth is successful in its own domain and add value to entire human race before they find eternity. Disclaiming one as successful or failure would destroy the entire human race itself.  

My viewpoint is that, let’s respect individual, the value they bring and grow unruffled without a cataloguing success or failure.  

One need to keep challenging themselves every day, to do better and strive towards attainment of higher endeavour.
