Rain Water Harvesting.
It is to catch the rain, store and use. Rain water harvesting is defined as collection of run-off rainwater for domestic use, agriculture, soil conservation, and environmental management . Rain water collected from roof top is stored for human use and run off rain water from land surfaces or rock catchments are collected for agriculture use or for ground water recharging.
Reliability of rain water supply depend on the size of the catchment area, (the roof), the volume of the storage tank and the management of daily consumption, all in relation to the local rainfall pattern. In India where the annual average rain is relatively high in some areas of India ,rain water harvesting is technically feasible any where.
Rain water can be harvested for two purposes:-
A. Storing rainwater for ready to use in containers above or below ground.
B. Charged into the soil for withdrawal later (groundwater recharging).

Advantages of Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater harvesting techniques in construction planning offer practical solutions to combat water scarcity and environmental challenges. By adopting these techniques, you not only reduce your dependence on conventional water sources but also contribute to the sustainability of our planet. Rainwater harvesting also provides ecological benefits. It has the potential to reduce flood hazards and soil erosion.
So, take a step towards a more sustainable future and incorporate methods of rainwater harvesting into your construction projects. By doing so, you not only save water and money but also become a part of the solution to combat water scarcity. Together, let us embrace rainwater harvesting as a vital strategy for construction planning and create a better world for ourselves and future generations.
