The Missing Piece: A LinkedIn Growth Story That Changed Everything

I had this moment recently - you know the kind where everything you thought you knew suddenly shifts? After 8 years of helping hundreds of entrepreneurs build their business on LinkedIn,

I discovered something that had been hiding in plain sight all along.

Picture this: I'm sitting in my office late one night, scrolling through success stories from my clients. Good engagement, growing connections, and increased sales... Yet something felt incomplete. It's like when you're humming a song but can't quite catch the chorus.

That's when it hit me.

I'd been playing the wrong game entirely. All these years, I've been pushing the "how" - post more content, send more DMs, and leave more comments. Massive action, massive effort, minimal leverage.

It was like trying to fill an ocean one bucket at a time.

The lesson we should all learn from Rappers.

I noticed something fascinating in an unexpected place - the hip-hop industry. "Rappers, in particular, cracked the code to what I've been missing.

When Drake collaborates with Travis Scott, or when Jay-Z jumps on a track with Beyoncé, magic happens. Their audiences merge, their reach multiplies and their impact explodes.

An AHA Moment

This revelation led me down a rabbit hole, and I found the same pattern everywhere I looked with extremely successful entrepreneurs. Take Benjamin Hardy, PhD - a brilliant writer and passionate communicator, but his early books weren't setting the world on fire. Then, he collaborated with Dan Sullivan , whose organization Strategic Coach leads one of the largest coaching organizations for founders in the world. Dan wasn't a writer but has much influence, and Ben didn't have much influence but was a prolific writer.

The Result of Collaboration

That action saw Dan's organization gain $100 million in additional sales and Ben 10xing his business. Ben and Dan's books became a best-selling trilogy. Their two audiences merged into something greater than the sum of their individual efforts

That shifted my strategy of daily LinkedIn posts, a massive amount of comments on other people's posts, and how many DMs my clients or I send. To WHO you could connect with, collaborate with, and grow with massively.

This shift in thinking transforms everything:

  1. Instead of asking, "How do I reach more people?" ask, "Who already has the audience I want to serve?"
  2. Rather than "How do I create more content?" consider "Who can I create something remarkable with?"
  3. Stop thinking, "How do I grow my network?" and start thinking, "Who can I grow alongside?"

The Greatest Irony

LinkedIn, the platform built for professional connections, has become a stage for solo performances when it should have been an arena for duets that utilize leverage.

What if your next big breakthrough isn't in the "how" but in the "who"? What if the key to exponential growth is doing less but doing less strategically with the right people to 10x your reach?

Take a moment. Look at your network. Who could be your Dan Sullivan? Your Drake? Your perfect collaboration partner?
