Portugal has really been a excellent choice to many expatriates who choose to settle here for a better quality of life. However, even making just a rental investment in Portugal is also so interesting. Do you know why?
According to the convenants Portugal has with some countries, they offer some conditions which are very favorable to many expatriates, like: exemption form income tax for pensioners for 10 years, a 20% ceiling on the income tax for working people, a very good and functional national public health system, no weath tax, cost living 30% lower than in France or other European countries etc.
Besides, Portugal offers some advantages that might make a big difference when it is time to decide to live here or not:
- Security: the level of violence in Portugal is extremely low. Actually, the country was classified as the 3rd safer country in the world, behind Iceland and New Zealand, what is really amazing.
- Amazing gastronomy: all of the end-consumer products are cultivated/produced under a high quality control and the there are strict rules aplied by Europena Union to garantee this high level of quality.
- Excellent public transports: Portugal offers na excellent public transport service, which includes bus, metro and train. Oporto, for example, has the best metro infraestructure of the country and it will get even better though.
- No inflation (basically): it’s amazing how we buy the same products in the supermarkets and they keep the same prices for too long.
- Very good weather: Portugal is sazonal, with lot of rain in the winter, but nothing so extreme. It’s a pleasant weather indeed.
So, why do not go live in Portugal after all?
However, you might not be ready to move to Portugal, right? Well, it does not mean that it is not possible to start by making rental investments or also investing in local accommodations. It could be a perfect option while thinking if and when you are ready to move in.
Last December Forbes published Porto (Oporto) as one of the best European cities to invest. Actually the prices as still 30% lower than Lisbon. Also in 2019 Portugal was awarded for the 3rd time as the best European destination.
