Real • Leaders • Reflect
By Jeff and Dr. Maria Gross
I continually find that the “Ah Ha” moment in Empowerment Leadership is when leaders finally understand that how we achieve results matters. Most of the time, as leaders, we are so focused on the day-to-day drudgery of the job that it distracts us from what our main purpose is: to lead the team to greatness.
It’s important that we are introspective on how we are leading the team. We need to hold ourselves accountable to creating a culture of empowerment. I call this self-reflective process of accountability “RLR” or “Real-Leaders-Reflect”. Here is the RLR for Empowerment Leadership self-reflection.
The last question is the hardest to internalize. Consciously or unconsciously we will lie to ourselves on how we are performing as Empowerment Leaders. This is why employee feedback surveys are always so shocking. The only way we are going to see through the eyes of our team is to look back from their direction. Reflecting back weekly on our Empowerment Leadership will eventually create an exciting culture of trust, enjoyment, and results.
